Saw this listed in "Men's Health" the other day and thought I'd post it for all to see. Pretty good list IMO. I have to work on some of those though lol.

1. Bench 1.5x your body weight.

- less than 1.0x = weak
- 1.0x - 1.49x = avg
- 1.5x + = excellent

2. Run 1.5 miles in 10 minutes.

- 12 min or more = slow
- 10-12 min = avg
- under 10 min = excellent

3. Touch the rim.

- under 20in vertical = poor
- 20-26in vertical = avg
- over 26in vertical = excellent

4. Leg press 2.25x your bodyweight.

- less than 1.8x = poor
- 1.8x-2.2x = avg
- over 2.2x = excellent

5. Swim 700 yds in 12 min.

- less than 500 yds = poor
- 500-700 yds = avg
- over 700 yds = excellent

6. Do 40 pushups.

- 25 or fewer = poor
- 26-39 = avg
- 40+ = excellent

7. Measure up.
(Measure the circumference of your waist, then the widest point of your hips/butt.... then divide the 1st score by the second.)

- 0.92 or higher = poor
- 0.82 - 0.91 = avg
- 0.81 or less = excellent

8. Run 300 yds in under 1 min.

- More than 70 secs = poor
- 60-70 secs = avg
- under 60 secs = excellent

9. Touch your toes.

- can't do it = you suck
- can do it = you're allsome

10. Toss a basketball 75ft kneeling.

- less than 60ft = poor
- 60-74ft = avg
- over 74ft = excellent

Yeah, I tried it and I'm average except for the running 1.5 miles I'm at 8 minutes, swimming I can do about 720 yds in 12 minutes.

The 300 yds one is freaking impossible.

I caught up with a bunch of guys I knew back in Guelph from over a decade ago. They all had good-sized paunches on them. I didn't. Those metrics work for me ok.

The swim one will definitely kill me. I can "survive" in the water but that's about it lol...

Have to work on the running ones too. I think I'm good with the rest.

I'll see what I can find for the chickies 'cuda.... you can definitely work it though if you push yourself! Take it from a former "beanpole".

For 'cuda (and Tazzie!):

Couldn't find much but there were a couple of things...

1. Pushups

- less than 10 = poor
- 10-20 = avg
- 20-30 = excellent

2. Situps

- less than 20 = poor
- 20-30 = avg
- 30+ = excellent

3. Bench press

- 0.25x your weight and less = poor
- 0.35x your weight = avg
- 0.50x your weight (and up) = excellent

4. Leg press

- 1x your weight = poor
- 1.5x your weight = avg
- 2x your weight = excellent

Before my body got fucked up, I would have scored well in some of these categories. Now my body is total fail. I want to be a teenager again! Physically speaking, I peaked at 17-19.

What the hell did you do to yourself? lol.... most men actually don't reach their peak strength until their mid-late 30s... it's the recovery time and flexibility that tends to go south once you're out of your 20s (unless you work on it).

The first 2 I can do... as long as the push-ups are modified (I have little girly muscles starting to show. I'm a loser). I can do sit-ups all damn day, though.

The other two, I'd have to go to a gym to find out. I'll let ya know in a year.

I know. Several guys I went to grade school with have only been getting stronger and stronger as we get older. I had multiple upper body injuries 5-8 years ago and never fully recovered. Ironically, I made things worse by continuing to stay active, when I really should have taken lots of time off and rested. I felt industructible when I was younger. I dismissed aches and pains before they became serious. I'm now paying the price.
