Where should I go this summer?

So, me and the girlfriend want to go somehwhere this summer but not sure where. We've narrowed it down to these choices. Any assistance would be great!

I picked Barca, but Paris and Alaska are great choices as well. Rome is tremendously overrated, same with Nice. In fact, Nice's beaches are all rocks and pebbles. Despite looking good, it's a shitty place for a beach holiday. If you are going to go to Italy, go to Tuscany, not the major cities.

If you have some time, I would also strongly suggest Turkey, which is an amazing country. It's got a bit of everything, and it's gorgeous.

London is always a good choice, except for all the damn poms.... :)

I'd say somewhere in Spain.

I'm going to the Costa Blanca this summer. I can't wait.

I hear Vienna is nice too.

a lot depends on what you wanna do for your vacation. relaxing and taking in the sights would be alaska easily. i've only heard amazing things from people vacationing there.

i know you're into history, does that play a big part in the decision? london is a good go, especially if you can convince your girl to a trip to highbury ;)

Claudius 04-18-2008 12:34 AM

Yeah, that's the thing, I'm not sure if we want a relaxing trip or a doing something trip. If I did do BC it would be Squamish (dunno if I put on the list).

And yes, Highbury is a must if we go to London. Vienna is over priced right now due to Euro 2008. And I agree on the Italy part, but I've never been to Rome and it could be a good landing point and go explore the country from there.

Baghdad is beautiful this time of year.

I would seriously suggest not to go to any place in the mediterraneum in the summer.
Two main reasons,
first and most obvious, its annoyingly full of tourist. And when I say full, I mean it. Second, its extremelly hot. Being in Madrid in august specially its tough because to be under the sun for more than 10 minutes is difficult. Madrid has a lot to see if you like museums (prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen are huge painting museums) and that kind of stuff. It also has one of the best public transportation system in the world. You can pretty much go anywhere by bus or train. You will find good food and lot of places to party (if you still do that, lol).

Barcelona is the coolest city in spain, really international, a lot of places to party, good tranportation, a lot of good concerts and cultural things to do. It has the Gaudi (a famous arquitect) bulidings and parks wich are beautiful. The beaches there are nothing special. Too many tourist in Barcelona.

If you want to come to spain, you should go to the north. San Sebastian specifically, the capital of The Vasque Country. Best food, amazing beaches (water is cold though), good temperature, beatiful little towns, best food again, not a lot of tourist, great jazz and movie festivals, and you can also go to the mountains cause they are not that far. Everything is just green and beutiful in the north of spain.

Oh and whatever you, DONT GO TO ROME OR ATHENS IN THE SUMMER.

if I was you I would go to Alaska. Well, I would anywhere without too many tourist, I really cant stand them.

Belsius 04-18-2008 08:49 AM

BTW when are you planning to do the trip

fancylad 04-18-2008 08:50 AM

Hey, i'm trying to decide myself.
I'd actually really like to go to Spain and am thinking either Madrid or Barcelona.
Another option for me is Berlin.

As for you Claudius, have you been to any of the above mentioned places, because if not, Paris should be at the top of your list. It's one of the most memorable places i've visited in Europe (i went about 3 years ago). New York has it's charm, but Europe is always a much better experience than USA, IMO.

Belsius 04-18-2008 08:57 AM

Berlin is also a great option. I have never been there but Im probably going this summer, all I hear is good things. AND it is extremelly cheap wich helps if you are poor like me lol.

I have been 5 times in Paris and I have to say its a special place.

I've never been here but i'd have to chose barcelona...Alaska? are u f-in kiddin me? Im sure it has some nice scenery but fuck staring at bush (not female) :)

Experience the world with your woman maybe she will be open to a 3 way with a hot spanish chick :)

Belsius 04-20-2008 08:39 AM

I forgot to say that barcelona is the place with more hot chicks I have ever been in my life. You have em in the all the flavors.:dancing:

BUt anyway I think it all comes to your priorities.
