In highschool & college I played SG/SF. Was alot thinner and more athletic then. Now, I usually play in the post at PF. I'm not tall at 6', but my size at 235 lbs. prevents me from getting pushed around. I consider my style ala Mahorn and Barkley with their Thump'n Bump days with the Sixers back in the late 80's.

I could dunk in highschool but after three ankle sprains and just not doing a lot of sports I cant barely do it now. Im getting back in shape so I hope I will soon be able to do it again. Maybe even better.

I played C in high school. But when I'm not playing organized ball, I'm more of a PF.

My game is actually like a Bargs/Bosh hybrid. I can step out and hit the jumper out to about 18 feet, but playing ball for several years on a few real team taught me a few inside moves so I can do some damage inside haha... I haven't played in a long time though.

And I'm 6'4, about 200 pounds... but can't dunk.

Nice thread. I see a lot of the young guys chiming in, along with the old. Nice to see.

What ground to cover here.....

There's then, and now. Which, can be best illustrated by directing you to Black, and white. Yep, I am that bad now!!!! heehee

When I played HS, we were small, I played all 5 positions at some point or another. Wasn't comfortable at the point as I only picked the game up in Grade 10.

Mostly I was playing either two or 4.

In college I was exclusively a 2 guard on offence, however I was capable of guarding smaller 4's as I was very strong for my size and played very physically, I also had 41 Inches under my shoes so I could dunk and all that, however hindsight has me wishing I hadn't bothered.

Now, I can only go off of the few games i had last year at Hoopdome.... and I was anything but comfortable anyplace. I guess SG was my best position, but I had to take the pointover a few times as Sauce was killing us with his tunnel vision, and was better off screens as the kid doesn't miss...... ever.

As for who I have seen on this board.

After me (heh heh) Claudius is the smartest player, and his brother moves well wthout the ball.

Passionate baller I believe it was is a good guy, big, uses his body well.

Sauce kicks ass shooting, but doesn't use his biggest asset (his first step is nice, and he could open up his shot mor eif he used it.

Gizzle. Well shit. Gizzle, If I had to describe him as an NbA player would be a young Charles Oakley. He is NOT afraid. I would play with him anytime.

I have yet to run with Thriller, but look forward to it as I think we would play well together. He, Claudius, Gizzle and I.... with a big guy.

Lastly. MetalRAsam.

Trust me. He's small, and he's slow, but he's everybit Chris Childs. He would not back down from Mike Tyson, literally. Toughest kid I know.... to a fault, as I know Sauce has already choked his ass out, and Sauce is knee high to a Grasshopper. Remember the big dude he went at last time we were all there????? Heh.

I like the guys from this site when we meet at Hoop dome, you're all great kids to run with.

I play whatever position I need to play to win the game and stay on the court, which is usually point guard, since most people who think they're a point guard don't actually know how to play point guard.

As long as some vets come out, I'll be there; last two times I spent 30 dollars to drive down and play at hoopdome it was me and a bunch of 16-18 year olds.

6'0" 175 pounds. I play SF and PF with my friends. In high school I played mainly SF because most of the PF and C's on my team were 6'3"-6'6". I suck at shooting the three ball. I'm a rebounder and defensive guy. I get most of my points off putt backs. However, if I have a much smaller defender on me I can finish in the post with my left hand or right hand. When your in the post it's all about putting your ass into it.

PF. I have a decent jump shot assuming the defender doesn't have crazy hops, but the majority of my points come off the drive.
I'm 6'0 and around 155 but the people I play with are around my height or shorter.

OT: I'm looking for some simple ways to improve my 'hands'(term thats used the same way in basketball as it is in hockey?)around the net because I often feel like I have two left hands.

Repetition Brother.

Find a court by your place. Do your dribbling drills for an hour. Do at least 45 mins of Basic foot work moves from 5 foot in, and shoot at least 200 ft's. That should get you rready for fall, when actual training starts......

Thats how ya get hands.

And oh ya, play, play, play, play..... play as much as you can, and ALWAYS play against better guys.

5'11 combo guard

In high school my coach was a dumbass and thought run-and-gun would make us win games... sure we always had 127 point games but we always got our ass pounded.

But seriously I would love a pickup game sometime with everyone at RF
