Default VoIP phone + Apple TV or Roku

Hey guys, I'm planning to disconnect our home phone and cable but the internet. I'm going to get a VoIP phone instead then either Apple TV or Roku.

Are are you guys have VoIP phone at your home? What is the best VoIP provider?

As for cable, we don't really watch shows on its scheduled time anyways so there's no point to that. As for RaptorsTV, I'm willing to give up that shit. I haven't even seen more than 3 episodes of Open Gym. I might have to subscribe for a league pass next season though. That's why I want to get an Apple TV or Roku. They have NBA Gametime app. I like Roku better since you can install an app called Plex and you can access TV shows and movies stored on your laptop. I'll just get an external HD and transfer all my tv shows and movies I downloaded to there and leave my laptop only for documents, music and such lightweight files.

Since I might have to miss TV shows on their scheduled airtimes and might get a hard time discovering other TV shows out there, so I plan to subscribed back on Netflix. I was a Netflix subscriber but since the Canadian version sucks, so I stopped. But with VPN, I can access to US Netflix. What VPN service do you guys have?

I'd appreciate any help, input and etc. Thanks in advance.

I use both Vontage at home and at my business.

I'd say 99.99% of the time you'll have no issues what so ever.

I would not suggest getting league pass if you're a Raptors fan. I did the same as you and disconnected my cable and used league pass mobile and every Raptors game was blacked out for me this year

For Netflix or hulu, no need to use a VPN on my laptop. I just added a Chrome extension called Media hint and works like a charm.

Does Media Hint not work for league Pass?

It's still blacked out even though using VPN?

Thanks for recommending Media Hint! I just added it and tested it out on Hulu, it works! If this makes me get the US Netflix too then this is awesome!

The only thing I'm worried now is the League Pass. Anyone here has league pass using VPN?

Okay, cause I was planning on getting league pass next year now that I have media hint, I was hoping that would stop the blackouts. Let me know if you do try it out

Fwiw, I used a VPN until they blocked my account. Had to email them to unblock it. I didn't try again as it states in the terms its one of the reasons they can cancel your account with no refund and legal action. Maybe there are better vpns out there though

I have Roku at home, but but don't really use it all that much tbh.. connecting your PC to TV is better than anything else, saves you tons of money.
But don't listen to me I'm stupid enough to pay 100+ bucks for the cable..

Yup, it does not allow me to watch the current game that is on due to me being in a blackout area.

Ah shitty, so the only use of League pass is to watch the other games that happen in the league I guess

From what I know, local and nationally broadcasted games are blacked out on league pass.
