I grew up in a town of 400 people. Closest town of 26K was 30 mins away. I dont ever remember being bored. My guess is that kids today arnt raised to entertain themselves. Their parents are always giving them activities, tv shows, games etc to keep them amused. When the parental entertainment commitee leaves a free day, kids are stumped. I dont think it is the kids problem, it's parents that think they have to amuse their kids 24/7. |

totally agree with Raptorman on that one...
kids nowadays have no creativity...and are lazy as fuck. they want everything handed to them. case in point, this thread; you want us to tell you what fun things to do. sigh. go out and figure it out on your own. be creative. |

Yeah, i didn't live in a town that small, but i was an only child and even when i was home i wasn't bored. But really, i was rarely home especially in the summer. I played competetive ball, played sports with friends in my spare time, spent time at my friend's place (who had a pool) and i dated. When i was home and was bored i'd watch a movie or TV and at times played board games with whoever was there. I don't know about blaming just the parents though, kids today don't know what to do with themselves once they get bored with their video games, when they stop texting. It's as if they're lost without their technology. And more and more kids i know have less friends then i remember most people having growing up. They seem to isolate themselves, and more and more teens seem to be socially awkward. Last edited by jeffb; 08-17-2011 at 10:21 AM. |

Have you been mugged yet? If not you should try that.
Also, you could get run over by traffic, it's pretty tricky but you'll quickly get the hang of it.. Have you taken in the smell yet? It's truly lovely, particularly down by the lakeshore. Speaking of that you should definitely swim in Lake Ontario at least once and make sure to keep your mouth open. You could drive out of town and then try to get back in...that's always a treat. The big city is great...if you're not doing any of these things you just aren't trying ! |

My sister's 19 and she and her friends are doing the same things people my age were doing back in the day. Actually, they seem to be doing more and they're more creative. Smarter in a way and whatnot. |
