His business card read, "Ted Rogers, Senior Salesperson."

It could have easily said, Electronic Visionary, Sleepless CEO or Relentless Entrepreneur, for Rogers, with his trademark determination, became Canada's most successful businessmen, transforming his name into a nation-wide brand that signified high-speed Internet, cellular telephones and major league baseball.

Rogers, who was being treated for an ongoing heart condition, died at his home in Toronto, according to a statement released by his company this morning. He was 75.

The Jays are in capable hands, but it looks like they could be paring salary - and as they should - time to hold a fire sale and get back some prospects - much like what the Florida Marlins to every few years.

In terms of Mr. Rogers, speaking in terms of not only as Torontonian, but as a Canadian, we salute you for being a trailblazer. You are a true inspiration.

Bro, I don't understand the posting of the other links, I mean, a link's already been posted. It's not like anyone's putting a different spin on the story.

It's in his family's control and I hear his son and daughter will take over eventually.

I got to meet Ted at a Blue Jays gala a few years ago. The night was awesome for me as I got to hang out with Jesse Barfield (who was the absolute coolest guy you could ever meet...we just hung around and talked ball) and a bunch of other childhood idols, but the funniest part of the night was when I was introduced to Ted Rogers. He had this slick blue jacket on, but the blue was this blue you just couldn't find anywhere. It looked like he had that colour of blue created just for himself.

He was in high demand that night, but managed to say a couple of quick words of thanks for being a Jays fan (he admittedly wasn't a big wealth of knowledge when it came to baseball, so he kept it short) and then shuffled off to shake hands with other people. He looked old, he moved like he was old (kind of like a human sized marionnette), but I'll tell you what, with all of those old Jays there, the guy still owned the room.

RIP Ted.
