Target Coming to Canada

Target names first 105 Canadian locations, picks spots in all 10 provinces - Winnipeg Free Press

I like Target kinda...sorta. :cookie:

Barracuda 05-27-2011 08:53 AM

I do. I'm not afraid to admit it.

I have shoes from Target that I bought about 8 years ago. $4. They've lasted and I get a lot of compliments on 'em. I enjoy the look on people's faces when I say "Oh thanks, they're from Target."

:)

There's one @ Eglinton/Warden. Went in there a couple weeks ago. I wasn't impressed.

Are you sure it's the same Target?

I've never been to one of these stores and am unfamiliar with the concept.

What's the closest thing to a target store that we've had around for a while?

There's a Target here at one of the Smart Centres but it's not the Target. I don't think they've opened one in Canada yet - unless it's some test thing.

Yeah, it's just a store with reduced-price Target stuff. The stuff that didn't sell. They put it where the Designer Depot was, and that was the same thing.

So a Target liquidation/Outlet center?

Walmart

Aar_Canada 05-27-2011 09:27 AM

It's a little more high end than Walmart. Not much though.

fancylad 05-27-2011 09:31 AM

Oh. so what sets them apart then? do they carry better brands?

Yep, pretty much.

Having been in one in the States, Targets are slightly upscaled Walmarts. They feel cleaner and more organized.

When in Florida, given a choice, I will go to a Target over a Walmart every time.

They also just have cooler stuff. I've only been once or twice, but I dig it.

That said, I'm not much of a shopper in general and don't care about name brands whatsoever.

The Zellers at Bridlewood Mall is pretty old so it's good that their fixing it up and changing it into a Target.

Think it used to be a KMart before it was a Zellers too

Barracuda 05-27-2011 04:13 PM

I can only assume that the Canadian Target won't be quite as good as the American ones. That's just how it goes.
