Default So I'm Thinking About Buying an Acoustic Guitar...

I need some help. I grew up playing piano, Royal Conservatory and all that, played sax too, but haven't touched either in years. I'm thinking about buying an acoustic guitar, but don't have a clue what I should be looking at, how much I should be spending, etc.

Since there are a bunch of guys here well versed in this, can you guys give me some info? I might not even get one, but I figure if I am going to check it out, I should at least do a bit of research.

Thanks.

if you want to spend money and get a great guitar, buy a martin.

if you have medium money and want a really sweet rig, buy a larrivee.

if you want a great quality canadian-made acoustic at a very reasonable price, look at simon and patrick, seagull or godin.

imo.

Seagull and Norman are both Canadian made acousitcs and are both really nice.

Both are quality makes (made at the same factory) and the sound is awesome.

I assume they range from $500.00 and up.

Go talk to Nigel at Steve's.

Anything under $200 will be crap (in a year or two) and very frustrating to play.

I have an old Yamaha that has stood the test of time fg-410.

'trane is on the right track.....

Actually, on the same note, I am looking to take up an instrument other than piano. My brother has an old guitar that he got for his birthday (and got bored of ) so I am planning on bringing it back to res with me. Any idea of any good guitar instruction websites?

FWIW I have two Fender acoustics and a Yamaha classical guitar.

I like them all.

There's some good stuff on YouTube and the bad stuff is hilarious, so it's a win-win.

First, are you buying guitar to play classical music, flamenco or popular music?

Do you want old style acoustic or new acoustic-electric one?

Check this link... http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/guita...ying-guide.php

Or if you want to be super cool and have money to burn get original Ramirez... here is their link... http://www.guitarrasramirez.com/engl...esionalEn.html

If you dont want to spend a lot of money and get a nice guitar I would principally check Yamaha and Takamine.
