Mehh, I know a couple people with HTC and a couple that also have the iphone. I've used both and I prefer the iphone. My friend has an HTC phone and has had problems with it.

maybe its pre 2010 (with the older version of windows mobile) but most of their phones after 2010 are solid. My HTC is still working as if it were the first day of use and no scratches

She bought it last fall. There's so much technology snobery these days and phones are one of the worst. It's amazing how Android users laugh at iphone users as if they're using a carphone the size of a brick from the 80's...or how BB users are pretty much laughed at by iphone + android users. Society feels so compelled these days to keep up with everything and constantly upgrade. There's another thread up about how younger people make their way in life and how it's a struggle to get ahead and make a life for themselves. But one thing is likely, they're probably struggling in better style than they used to with their 600$ iphone, ipad, and tablets.

Iphones- work great for day to day things- syncs easy-apps can be expensive- a bit fragile

Androids- cheaper to use- does all that an IPhone can do but cheaper- a bit more of a learning curve

Basically I tell people that have a lesser tech mind to get an IPhone. Those of us that can tinker, get an Android.

smartphones, ipads etc etc have taken the place of cars in this day and age (imo)

back in my much younger days, it was cool to own your own vehicle...younger kids cannot afford a new car payment, gas and insurance these days (or at least VERY few can) so they turn to their technology instead..."today's" version of cool is what phone (etc etc) you use...hence the concern about what everyone else is using...or the "keeping up with the Jones" mentality
hell, i even see it with my kids on the bus (from grade 2 on up)

maybe i'm way off base here...i don't know for sure... but my best advice for a phone for anyone asking ?...buy what YOU like..who gives a rats ass what everyone else thinks

To be clear, I didnt mean it as a put down that you dont want to tinker. (Although vids of Cuda tinkering cant be all bad).

Some people want their stuff to work out of the box and never think of them again. Nothing wrong with that.

Kudos to you Steve. Just what I was looking for. (thanks to everyone who chimed in though)

Considering the fact that I've gone without a smartphone for this long I doubt that I'm going to be the "tinkering" type. I don't tinker with my Macbook at all... I just want it to work. That's it. If the I-phone is the one that's going to deliver that then perhaps that's the best choice.

I know that funk said that it sucks as a phone though..... wondering why that is.... funk?

dropped calls. i originally thought it was exclusive with rogers, but after talking to a few people here that are with telus, they have the same experience with it happening to them.

I have an iphone and as a pure phone I fucking hate it. The ONLY reason I got one was because I was looking to upgrade my phone and my wife was offered a deal on two iphones but not two droids or bbm or a mix and match. So yeah, I went with them fully knowing a Droid phone is a better option.

Also, something to note, Blackberry's compress a data a lot, lot better than the iphone and if you're going to significantly use data, than I would strongly suggest staying away from the iphone.

Unless you already own an Apple computer, I really wouldn't suggest it.

Why do you hate it so much?

LOL... it's pretty frustrating trying to talk to people about this because EVERYONE seems to have such a strong like/dislike for the 3 different brands.

Maybe I should just say fug it and stay with a basic "stone age" cell lol.

go into a store and play around with them to see which features you like the best. just tell the customer service peeps to leave you alone while you figure it out yourself. maybe it's just me, but i find it extremely annoying when i'm being bugged with specs when all i wanna do is play with the phone/tablet/computer. i can read lol

I'm simple when it comes to phones. I want to email/text quickly and get my updates. Nothing special. No games no stupid apps and I'm fine. My last 4 phones were blackberry. I like them and the physical keyboard is much faster. I think my next one will be that or maybe a droid. I'm not a fan of Apple products for various reasons
