Default Sick of the Holidays?

The holidays are great an all, but I must say it is starting to wear really thin with me.

For starters on the 24th I had to visit my sister, brother in law and their 3 kids to give them their presents then folow that up by visiting this woman who is like a grandmother.

Christmas day say my buddies comming over for dinner and also saw all the work that went along with preparation of that(including a second degree burn the size of a dollar bill on wifes forearm.)

Boxing day saw my parents coming over for a total of 9 fucking hours(my parents suck)

The 27th saw my wifes Biological father come to visit along with his 2 lesbian friends(whom I have never met, and look nothing like I imagined) This guy is the laziest MoFo on the planet and wont even get up off the coach to piss much less give a soother to his screaming granddaughter when wifey and I are out of room cooking supper.
---and he ate 2 of the BIG blocks of cheese in the last day and a half and then says to me he cant afford to buy cheese-

Today marked the arrival of the wifes Step Father who will be joining us for the next day or so, really interested seeing how wifes biological and step fathers get along........

Needless to say, I am really happy to be back to work today where I can get some peice and quiet because all these dipshits in my home are driving me insane.

the rule of enjoying the holiday's is to be in charge.
you my poor snooch, are not in charge.

your family and your woman have you by the balls man.
you need to turn that shit around pronto.

if you arent in charge, you'll get shit on all day long... you'll be forced to do everything you dont want to do, and it'll suck.

you need to go by your own schedule. and that means you need to do everything as if you were alone. go eat whenever and whatever you want, watch tv, drink alot, leave the room whenever you want, come back talk for a bit, then leave... take a shit, read a magazine... do all of this, while still engaged in the conversation and not being an asshole to your guests.
its a very precious skill to have. they will see you as the leader and wont force themselves upon you as the host. just go about your business as if you are in charge. it works.

Yup, I used to enjoy the Xmas holidays growing up, but now that I'm married I can't stand them. Constant bickering with who's family we're spending Xmas with this year and so on and so on. This year wasn't so bad because we had both sides of the family to our place for Xmas dinner, but in years past it did nothing but cause tension and fights.

my wife's family lives in vancouver. it's so bloody simple. we spend xmas with my family for two years and then head out to the left coast to hang with them every third year. it's a pretty boring xmas when we're there, but no fights, no squabbles, and i get my in-law time done in one shot and come out looking like a hero b/c i forked over the cash for the flights. yay bi-coastal family!

it actually snowed evry day that i was there. crazy snow. the city is totally unequipped to deal with it. they haven't seen snow like this since the 60's, so it makes no financial sense for them to have the infrastructure to manage it. the big streets and highways get plowed, but the minor streets are just filled with a foot of snow and two tire tracks. cars are buried in snowbanks and abandoned on the sides of the street (and a couple of times in teh middle of intersections) until the temp increases and the rain comes back to wash it away. i lived there for 5 years and never saw anything close to this. ottawa and toronto deal with thgis all the time, but we have the infrastructure to handle it. vancouver will just have to wait in out and deal with the inevitable flooding.

My inlaws are all in Vancouver for the holidays, but my wife can't fly, so we got to spend a nice day with my family.

Next year we'll go out there, but her family is awesome, so it'll be just as nice.

If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in Vancouver do your inlaws live? I know we have friends in Surrey and from the pictures I saw the amounts of snow was ridiculous.

Saturday...

Not nervous, just anxious to get this show on the road and feeling really bad for my wife. Although she's tougher than I am...she's hasn't let it slow her down, she's out grocery shopping right now and running errands.

My inlaws are in White Rock. They had to go and rent a car because there was so much snow that their car was snowed in the garage and their steet was completely inaccessible.

Word of advice, go do somethings together, like go out to dinner or go to a movie or something, cause it aint happenning after baby is born.
