![]() I agree...The worst part was the teacher at the very end helping the kid in.
Whatever school allowed this should be evaluated and put on suspension. All the teaching degrees should be suspended thus not allowing them to teach again. Honestly if I was one of the parents I would be pissed of. |

![]() i think is great stuff. i hate the kids are innocent bullshit people like to peddle. they're capable of handling complex ideas, ideas about power, and all of the rest of it. granted there's a lot of problematic shit about the representations in the play itself, but my question to the teacher having them put it on might be, "do your kids understand what they're doing?" Or, "are you just having them re-create something uncritically?"
Whether we like it or not, having young people re-do Scarface does something to the original text, and what it means. |

![]() When I was in High School for grad night a bunch of guys did a play depicting various ganster movies (ie. Godfather, Untouchables etc.). That was HS we were all like 17-18. I guess kids are starting at a young age now.

i don't want to sugar coat everything for my daughter, but scarface is most definitely not going to be part of how i teach her about the world in her first 10 years. she can discover that later. |
