RIP Jeff Healy

Quote:

Jeff Healy dies at 41
Canadian rock and jazz musician Jeff Healey has died in a Toronto hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was 41.

Healy's publicist confirmed that the distinctive guitar player died at St Joesph's hospital on Sunday.

Healy's battle with cancer began at the age of one, when he lost his sight as a result of retino blastoma, a rare form of cancer. Losing his eyesight resulted in his unusual form of guitar playing, holding the instrument across his lap, something he started at the age of three.

Healey was an internationally-known star who had played with dozens of musicians, including B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and recorded with George Harrison. Mark Knopfler and the late blues legend, Jimmy Rogers.

Healy's death comes just weeks before the release of his first rock album in eight years

The Grammy-nominated musician is survived by his wife Christie and two children.

Man, that's horrible. :(

I just saw him last year at this music expo at the Toronto Convention Centre. He did a couple of great pieces. RIP, J.

My good friend is (was?) his musical director and clarinetist in the Jazz Wizards. He's not in a good way tonight.

I saw Jeff in 1989 in a small pub in Scarborough. Just before he went big. About 10 of us watching him play with his trio. We all knew we saw a magical performance. I saw him live about 5 other times. Great performer and my buddy tells me a he was a great guy to be around.

Music world will miss him, but his friends and family will miss him even more.

I was quite shocked.
Roadhouse was on Friday night which is eerie.

Sad day indeed. I mean, how many of us has helped over the year with his "Angel Eyes" track?

I didn't know him personally, but I heard he was a very good man. It's the world's loss and heaven's gain.

WOW .... I didn't even realize he had cancer. Although I wasn't really a fan of his music, he was definitely a special talent. Very sad. :(

Don't lie!

You always loosened up the girls back in the day by playing a little, "Angel Eyes." :)

mY girl loves Angel Eyes.

He fought his whole life this guy, and he lived life with a smile and an indellible aura that people say hit home when you were in his presence for even a brief amount of time.

Sad day losing Mr. Healy.

Seeya later bro, we'll miss ya.
