Man that place never should have gone on that show. total waste of money.

Anways, i'll stop in every now and then. It reminds me of fun times after a night with the soul clan at rancho relaxo or saturday's at the elmo.
the massimo's episode is on the food channel right now.

It's Christie and Dupont.

Me, I LOVE going to the Loblaws/Real Canadian Superstore because I find it to be very clean and bright. It's usually my first choice when I have to do grocery shopping. I'm not so sure anymore.

I've never had food at the Vaughan/St. Clair location, but the food at Queen and Portland restaurant is just awful.

i've been going to the vaughan location for years, it's great. there are always huge lineups of people, and it is competing with the eglinton/oakwood area (very nearby) where there are a ton of jerk chicken/roti shops. to me, when you see a constant stream of people form the west indies lined up for food it's probably the real deal.

the oxtail is fantastic. the rotis are huge and very well made. the jerk is good. not fantastic, but well good.

Summertime in the Eglinton West area (west of the Allen, of course) is amazing. When you see these cats with big drums cooking outside, you know it's gonna be delciious.

yeah, i lived at vaughan and oakwood for a few years when i was in grad school. i love that area. on the rare occasions that i drive to work these days i go right through there. it's murder on the way home because i'm starving for dinner and i have to wait in that huge lineup to make a left going south on oakwood and i'm srrounded by outdoor bbq jerk.

I posted this yesterday, but it was lost in the server change. Perhaps it warrants it's own thread if this one is meant to focus on restaurants?

The talk about Restaurant Makeover got me thinking about other food/cooking shows. I'm a huge fan of the original Japanese version of Iron Chef. Any other fans out there?

I have 35 gigs worth of episodes on my computer and I think I've watched them all at least twice - probably more. I'm not so much into the American version though.

Any other cooking shows people enjoy?

I liked Alton Brown's show..... the science angle appeals to me.

Though I'm not sure if it's even on anymore.

I really do enjoy Iron Chef - the American version though simply because the food appeals more to me than say, Sea Urchin ice cream. And because I recognize some of the chefs.

I do like Nigella Feasts and 30 Minute Meals with Rachel Ray - but those are for obvious reasons.

Barefoot Contessa would be good if she didn't start every single recipe with 2 quarts of heavy cream and 4 sticks of butter.

My favourite - aside from Nigella and Rachel Ray is Chef at Home with Michael Smith. Something about his cooking seems so genuine and simplistic.

that's precisely what i love about barefoot contessa.

i can't stand rachel ray. irritating in personality and uninspiring when it comes to dishes... also, she's tapped to replace oprah one day, so that says it all for me.

tony bourdain's shows are awesome, imo.

Anthony Bourdain is great.

Michael Chiarello was great when he was on PBS.

The best ever though was...

AH, good ol Pasquale. When I was home sick last week, I caught two of his shows. Fantastic! I love the singing.

I just like her cause to me, she's pretty hot. When you can get a cute, thick girl who wears low cut tops to cook, it's always a good thing.

Yup, RIP Pasquale.

When we were little his show and more specifically his singing used to scare my sister and she would ball.

One time we were grocery shopping with my mom and as we rounded the corner there he was doing an in store appearance singing his heart out.
