Do you have any volunteer experience you can put on there? It might help so you don't just hand in a blank piece of paper.

That's the only thing I had on my resume for experience when I applied for my first job.

Also it helps if you know someone working there, who you can put on your resume as a reference.

Also mowing the neighbor's grass or any odd jobs you might have done for pay you can throw on there. But it really shouldn't be from a relative.

I never did any volunteering yet so I can't do that.

How old are you anyway Gurk?

I think you can work under 16 if its not during school hours, like on weekends.

check this link: Minimum age

^^If your 16 right now I'm guessing you can apply cause after looking at the Minimum wage link, it seems that if work doesn't interfere with your school hours you can be hired and because there's no school in the summer I guess we can work

So seems like you can apply there for the summer then. Future shop might require some experience to get the job tho. Although I have a friend who knows jack-shit about work or technology and still got a job there.

You could try Timmies or other fast-food, although not much fun, they do provide training so you don't need much experience.

Fast-food kinda sucks, but if you do it, at least you'll have experience to work somewhere else next year.

If you get the chance you should also try to add volunteer experience as it looks good and can fill up those blank spots on your resume.

I used to be a candy-striper at the hospital, handing out ice-water and chatting with old folks. I only had to do it once every 2 weeks on Saturday afternoon and was able to add it to my resume. I also volunteered at the SPCA cause taking care of animals is fun but cleaning their cages was gross so I quit.

Yea I am going to give my application in to work at the new hospital in Brampton. Hopefully I get accepted there and then I'll add that on my resume for next year.

gurk - if it's more about getting experience than earning money, you could try volunteering somewhere where you have an interest. most employers would look just as favourably on that than a random job, perhaps more so. cash is cash, though, so do what you gotta do. just a suggestion.

Read the post above you. And also I have waiting for the hospital to give out volunteer forms for a long time and I finally go them so I am going to try my luck there first

My class is working on writing resumes.

I haven't done anything for money all my life, so its all volunteer stuff.

Future Shop sounds like a good job. Hmmm
