Did you see his view when he opened the door? He was looking down on earth, like an object in front of him.

meh, do it without the suit, then call me, it just a big skydive and a crap load of ad time for RedBull and go pro. But yes, the view was indeed something to behold.

It was unreal how fast he was going, never knew the human body could handle freefalling at 700mph+ Some people are complaining about the Redbull ads and promotions but these guys do some crazy things with their money, the Art of Flight was a sick snowboarding documentary for anyone interested in that kind of stuff...kudos to them for sponsoring this.

I'll engage. Are you being serious?

On a separate note, I give Mr. Baumgartner massive props. I mean really this proves to me, that nothing is really impossible. You sometimes just need to take a chance. When we work together, there really are no bounds to how far we can go to accomplish something.

What do you mean you will engage me...a little pretentious no? I'm just not all impressed about it all once i strip all of the hype and redbull hoopla from it. Take away mission control and the fancy instrumentation, and what am I looking at. A guy who is pushing his personal skydiving limits. There is no gain for humanity here, we have has pressurized space suits since the 50's, nothing new there. His only real issue was g-forces due to over rotation which he has an emergency switch to pop a safety chute to bail out. The only real thing going on was a bunch of dudes trying to break records, no different than guys in Bonneville trying to break land speed records on motorcycles. Unless of course they are gearing up to have guys simply skydive home after working on space stations in the future to save money on fuel.

Not once did I refer to anyone else being stoked about it as good, bad or otherwise, basically I just voiced my non-compliance to the obvious hoopla. I don't mind that guys are excited, some people love this stuff... i just don't I guess. But thank you, you know, for engaging my obvious idiocy.

How about astronauts going to that elevation in a spaceship, and having to abort because of failure and knowing that they are going to survive and having a protocal to follow? Sorry that something this amazing just doesn't stack up to your level of impressiveness lol.

Like what Chris said.
They are actually considering if something like that would be indeed possible.

I agree with alot of what you said, but there was some scientific stuff being done, not much though lol.

sj.... i watched last week when it was aborted and yesterday as well... few hours worth.... and i didn't detect even the slightest "redbull hoopla"... no idea what you are getting at with that.

whatever you want to call it.... i thought it was absolutely riveting.... nobody has ever jumped from this high before or gone this fast... there were real unknowns about the risk involved. my heart was pounding watching that hatch open and seeing him step out, then fall away.... most entertaining thing i've seen in a long time.

its your world trane, im just living in it buddy. I will try harder to get my interests in line with yours..you know, so I can fit in. And please, dont compare threads that are miles apart in context, now belittle my own explanations for why I am not impressed. honestly man, you guys need to chill out a little. if, as one poster suggested (oh wait, that poster was me...fuck me, classic) this was a test to find ways to have astronauts simply parachute down from space...cool beans... anything beyond that is just thrill seeking and limit pushing, and im sorry, we cant all get excited for the same stuff... its why theres chocolate and vanilla baby

That view he has when he opens the door and stands on the edge before jumping..Just imagine that was you standing there all alone in the dark, about to jump..Man pretty intense.
