Rate the latest movie you saw...

Ratatouille

9/10

A fun children's film and man the animation is fucking superb. The rating is helped by the fact that I love food.

Cloverfield

5/10

See my thoughts on it in the "cloverfield" thread.

Good Luck Chuck 6/10

Dane Cook was pretty funny and the movie had 1 or 2 good laughs, but that 6 I gave it was only because of Jessica Alba. I've never really watched anything he's done or been in, but my lord she is one beautiful woman.

I really liked "I am Legend", even tho there were a few holes in the plot. I'd give it a 9/10.
But I might be slightly biased as I was a big fan of Charleton Heston's Omega Man.

After the Wedding - Danish movie.

Great story, excellently acted - 8.5/10

The Devil and Daniel Johnston - 7.5/10

Documentary about manic-depressive singer/songwriter/artist Daniel Johnston. While I personally find his music atrocious, it was certainly a very compelling portrait of someone suffering form severe manic depression.

At the movies - Death at a Funeral by Frank Oz, extremelly funny movie about the typical (well it turns out to be not so typical) english funeral. You will laugh till you cry.
8,5/10

DVD - Another English movie. I dont remember the name. A comedy about a London policeman taken to a boring position in a little town, Really funny too.
8/10

Has someone seen There Will be blood, the one that radioheads guitarist does the Sound track. I heard is really good.

Claudius 01-20-2008 08:00 PM

No. I want to see it in the worst way (there will be blood). For my money, daniel day lewis is the best actor today on the planet. He and Kenneth Branagh for me are 1 and 1a in terms for favourite actors.

And the british movie you saw was Hot Fuzz I believe.

9/10.

Hilarious film. Same guys who did Shaun of the dead.

*high 5's CG*

Absolutely love Daniel. "In the name of the father" and "My left foot" are some of my favourites. Probably the most underrated actor in Hollywood today.

Agreed. He spends like 2 years learning a role and then act it out. I believe when he did gangs of new york he spent like a year with a butcher so when the movie came out he knew exacltly what he was doing.

He was awesome in that role too, but a little too creepy for my liking. I couldn't help but hate his character. That's how good of an actor he is. :)

Belsius 01-20-2008 11:22 PM

I love that character in gangs of new york. The movie had its flaws but leonardo - lewis acting was brutal.

Belsius 01-20-2008 11:24 PM

And yah it was Hot Fuzz, really funny.

Belsius 01-20-2008 11:28 PM

Has someone seen, Iron Mans trailer, I dont like most superhero movies, but the trailer with the song Iron man by black sabbath makes me happy in many ways. Robert Downey Jr. is Iron man, and thinking that his latest movies have been pretty good this could actually not be a bad movie.

Belsius 01-20-2008 11:34 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbFuW_Jkbg8 theres the trailer.

And heres Iron Man by black Sabbath just cause I love em. lol

There will be blood -- 4/10.

If not for Day-Lewis this movie would be rated lower.

Belsius 02-18-2008 02:49 PM

Claudius, there will be blood 4/10?, I havent seeen it, but all I have heard is "one of the best movies in the last 10 years", and besides, Jonny greenwood from radiohead did the Soundtrack.

Are you serious? I've been looking so forward to this movie and thought it was suppose to be fantastic. :(

Claudius 02-18-2008 03:04 PM

Maybe it's just my opinion, but I honestly did not like it. Maybe 4 out of 10 is harsh. Maybe 6 out of 10 would be more fair.

I still feel that No Country for Old Men is a superior film and yeah Bel, I love Johnny Greenwood but the soundtrack was misused in this film.

Dr. J. Naismith 02-23-2008 11:44 PM

Gone Baby Gone - 8/10

I thoroughly enjoyed it. A good movie with lots of twists. I used to think Casey Affleck was a horrible actor and riding his big brother's coat tails, but he was very good in this movie. :clapping:
