Typical SJ waffling - you recently talked shit about the movie and anyone who went to see it. Tsk tsk.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, I've mostly heard good things.

Yeah, yeah, don't ask.

It sends the message that pretty much all relationships are doomed to be shit, so you probably shouldn't bother unless you're the "exception". Uplifting stuff.

I rate it 4 cheating husbands out of 10 obsessive women.
Entertainment wise, the movie is fail. However, I feel compelled to defend the story.

I saw that movie back when it was new while I was on a kinda...sorta...double date thingy. It left an impression. I remember thinking it had terribly corny moments, but it was far more tolerable than other crap I've been forced to watch (see anything with that chick from Grey's Anatomy). It actually provoked some honest discussion amongst us.

Some time has passed, so I don't remember the details of the movie exactly. But, based on what I can recall, the movie was not suggesting that pretty much all relationships are shit, nor was it suggesting that you should not try. That's absolutely not consistent with the character development of Justin Long and Ben Affleck. Ben's character reminds me of Aar_C. A totally awesome guy who doesn't necessarily fit the little girl's fantasy of the guy who gives his princess a big wedding (although Ben ends up doing it).

In my humble opinion, the movie is/was about several connected themes, such as not getting wrapped up in bullshit expectations about the opposite sex, and the person who is the real catch isn't always the one we initially suspect. It was challenging conventional perceptions of relationships and why we think things are good or bad. The juxtaposition of Aniston and Connelly gets at that. And by challenging those conventions, you might stop chasing (or staying in) shitty relationships and find better ones. More importantly, as exemplified by the Aniston/Affleck characters, you might wake the fuck up and realize when you have something awesome and need to value it. Aniston's character was acting like a fucking cunt and almost pushed away the best thing in her life, all because he wouldn't put a piece of jewellry on her finger. It's stupid to do that, yet women still do it.

Also, I think the movie suggests to people, especially women, that being single ain't the end of the world. Some people have this whacky idea that being in a shitty relationship is better than being single. In particular, I find that more women hold this view. At the end of the movie, I think anoher thing the movie was suggesting was that working on yourself and being comfortable alone is a good thing, since, again, it will allow you to figure out what you really want and find a better relationship by not getting wrapped up in the first shitty one that comes along.

I don't see this movie as making a positive or negative commentary on relationships. It's more of a corny exploration of why some people fuck up and others have success.

16 Blocks

randomly caught this movie on tv on saturday. Great acting from Bruce Willis and Mos Def.

Story about a witness testifying against a crooked cop but other NYPD cops go after the witness because there are a bunch of crooked ones in the department. And Willis' character (also a cop) has to get him the courtroom to testify. Yea the story doesn't really sound realistic but the acting was great and the movie had some good action sequences as well.

7.5/10

Watch the Karate Kid with my younger sister and girlfriend this weekend. Liked it a lot. Pretty well done and Jaden Smith did a great job in the remake. 8/10.

Rented Get Him to the Greek and plan to watch it on Friday. Heard very good things about it so I hope he is pretty funny as I've been told.

Wierd movie, but pretty entertaining. I love Asian horror films, usually pretty well done imo. This might not be for everyone but i enjoyed it.

I've been told it's scarier than the first one... that means I cannot watch it.

If that red x is something scary or exorcist related, SJ is dead.

Insider - yeah, I don't like it. It screws with my brain.

Do you believe in them exorcisms? Maybe that's why it's scary.
