The Road -- 8.5/10

Loved it. It was simple, stayed pretty true to the novel and depressed the living daylights out of me.

I was surprised when renting it how many people in the video store told me it sucks and is boring etc. When I asked, "did you read the book?" all replied they didn't and therein lied the problem. In fact, one person said "If you like post-apocalyptic films, Book of Eli is available and is much, much better". And then they saw that I was also renting REC instead of Quarantine and I think all thought I was crazy.

REC 9/10

Scariest 'zombie' film I've seen in some time.

finally got a chance to watch INCEPTION over the weekend.

i have a horrible case of ADD, and whenever i watch movies my mind will always drift back and forth... i'll be into the movie and all, but i will still think about what i want to eat for dinner, how big the girls boobs are in front of me, that i have an important meeting on Tuesday at work, etc...

this is one of the few movies that totally pulled me in.
i was so submerged with this movie that my brain was totally consumed. I absolutely loved this movie. great story, great action, excellent casting.... and a fantastic original idea.

9/10

REC 9/10

Scariest 'zombie' film I've seen in some time.
nice, i'm reading the book now and i am getting so into it. great read.
i wanted to read the book before watching the movie, so i think i'm doing myself a favor.
and for anyone to recommend 'Book of Eli', they need to be shot. seriously shot. that movie is the biggest load of shit.

whats REC, CG?

I agree that that was the problem with people who think "The Road" stank ... they went into the movie totally not knowing what to expect whereas, if you read the book, you were prepared for a depressing story but were blown away by the acting and the cinematography. Fabulous movie.

Losers was disappointing and Jason Patric was just horrible as Max (could be the worst portrayal of a villain ever)
just curious why you think that is

i could be bias since i'm a big fan of him, but i didn't have a problem him it at all. the villain suited the style of the movie.

It's the original version of that terrible movie Quarantine. It has the same basic premise however with some twists in the story line and more of an overall creepier feeling.

Essentially, a reporter gets locked inside a building with her cameraman and a few firefighters and they're trapped with a "disease/killers/demons?"

Watch it at night with all the lights out. To me, just a straight up scary film.

REC2 imo is better though.

I haven't seen the Road (yet), but i'm looking forward to it after reading these reviews.

To me the best 'zombie' type movie has got to be 28 days later. I remember being absolutely floored after i saw it the first time.

I liked 28 days later b/c it was different.

I'm hesitant to call REC zombie though.

first off let me say i like Jason Patric..2 films that always pop into my head when i hear his name are The Alamo and Lost Boys
this character (Max) felt contrived and forced imho...it was almost as if the director (at every opportunity) was trying to convince you that he was real badass...and it just didn't work...in fact, it had the opposite reaction for me
Max is supposed to be a mastermind and underworld warlord kind of figure...Patric's (and i must include the director here) interpretation comes across as "cartoony" and cliche

would have preferred to see another version of Keyser Soze instead

and again...just my opinion

i loved 28 days later... great flick.
even though 28 weeks later was weak, the first scene in that movie was awesome.

The ruins did creep me out a bit.

Anyone see the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2? Looks pretty creepy

i'll see if i can find it..thanks

when it comes to a gory, scary/thriller....my girlfriend's favourite movie is still The Thing (1982)...classic

speaking of classics...watched the original The Day The Earth Stood Still last night on tv...don't let the year 1951 fool you..this is an excellent sci-fi film...and some could argue more relevant today than it was way back then
an easy 8/10...highly recommend it

i love scary/thrillers... especially the ones with psycho killers in it...
Wrong Turn and The Hills Have Eyes are fun movies to watch.
