Good gravy it was awful. And dark...like you couldn't see anything half the time dark.

I discussed it with my super-Catholic in laws and it isn't even close to the Bible rendition. Why change it so it makes no sense?

What an epic waste of time and energy.

Chilling with a buddy talking about Robin Williams and his more serious roles. Sorry. I hate his comedic style.

So we watched Stranger Than Fiction. It is actually Will Ferrell in a serious dramatic role. I also hate WF and his stupid comedies. But this movie is great.

I didn't find Robin funny most of the time either, but did like almost everything he did as a serious actor.

Life Itself was great: A- "Movies are empathy machines" is a great Ebert quote.

I watched Nebraska the next night and thought it was nice mix of comedy and pathos: B+

Snowpiercer was OK. About as good as The Cube. You know the movie you are watching is kind of stupid when the axe fight is in slow motion: C+

Saw the new Gilliam flick - The Zero Theorem. Kinda fun. Not unlike snowpiercer in a lot of ways. Christoph Waltz was pretty good, but the writing was a bit loose. A ball peen hammer is used as a means of active dissent, and i'm not sure the allusion works more than it distracts. And in a way it is a vision of the future that is a little too close to the present, with just a few steampunk touches. Tilda Swinton plays a character not unlike the one in snowpiercer. Pretty weird. I wanna watch her in Only Lovers Left Alive next. She's everywhere.

So I took 5 teenage girls to the Drive-In last night t see TMNT and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I had very low expectations for TMNT - and it was even worse than I thought it would be. Wow did they blow an opportunity to reboot that franchise. Megan Fox looked good though. I will admit that a couple of the younger girls liked it.

GoG - now that was more like it. This delivers as a big fun action movie. The characters were done well - although I thought Dave Bautista as Drax was quite stiff with lines etc - but to his credit he also had his moments. Chris Pratt was great. It should be very interesting to see where they take this.

So I would recommend GoG to anyone and recommend staying far away from TMNT unless you are a 12 year old boy or a big Fox fan.

GOG was a really really good film, one of the best of the year.

Sin City 2 was good, but wasn't as good as the first.

I thought Batista was going to have a small role in the movie and I didn't expect him to do so well but he nailed his character.

In my opinion, he did a fantastic job playing that character. The dude is some form of species that takes everything literally, so he's supposed to come across as awkward and maybe stiff. There were some really funny moments related to the literal interpretation of everything. At first, things seemed stupid, but then I had an "oh, shit, that's hillarious!" moment when I realized what was going on and put past comments in context.

It's the type of movie that you could watch twice and find funny things that you didn't appreciate as much the first time.

He was on Sportsnet doing an interview before the movie premiered and it seemed like this role was a quite a big deal for him personally in moving on from wrestling. I think he took the opportunity very seriously.

"Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I will catch it."

when i first starting hearing about casting decisions for this film i was really excited up until i heard about Bautista...he was a big question mark for me and i assumed he would be the weak link in the movie
but he turned out to be perfect for the role and i thought he did a great job

his interactions/relationship with the rest of the crew was hilarious (inside the Dark Aster was my favourite)
but what really impressed me was his scene with Rocket near the end of the movie..he nailed it

The best offer 8.3/10

Fantastic movie, If you are all about action movies, and get bored really easily this is not for you. But if you want to see good drama/mystery that has brilliant acting and is really unique, watch it. This movie starts slow, but than builds up and keeps you glued to the screen and guessing.

As is Above, Such is Below - 7/10

Certainly very creepy due to the whole claustrophobic thing of being in the catacombs, and a few other elements. Got a bit confusing toward the end though.

Watched new Godzilla. Was expecting garbage with good CGI.

Got a decent movie with "through the roof" awesome CGI! Wow!

Acting was good. Liked that there wasn't any huge stars.

7/10
