I didn't care for mud, the other two are supposed to be good movies but I haven't seen either. I'd pick 12yrs a slave.

Transformers 4

7.7/10

Lots of CGI and fighting/action. Forget about the story.

Inception

Hard to follow, random crazy action scenes stuffed in between some serious hogwash dialogue scenes. Not very sci-fi-ee for being advertised as a sci-fi thriller. And what's up with the Rocky Mountain Spec-ops battle at the end?

Just glad it finally got over, when that happens, movie gets immediate D

whomever nominated that sucker as picture of the year, needs to lay off the wine

22 Jump Street - 6.6-7.0/10

It was enjoyable but the first one I found was funnier and more well done.

Saw Life Itself. It's a doc about Roger Ebert by Steve James, who previously made Hoop Dreams. It's incredibly beautiful and sad. As Werner Herzog says within the doc itself, it touched my heart. Really well done.

Had to see Planet of The Apes

Todays film making is all about amazing CGI and very simple good and bad people. Characters are not often real or complex. Basically everything is dummied down for the masses to understand. That's how I kept feeling through the whole movie. I was waiting for the movie to "take a chance" and be different. Like the first 5 ape movies.

Alas there are no quotable lines, no memorable characters. Just really really cool visuals and a cool concept.

The Simpsons will not be making a musical out of this version.

7.5/10

I really wish i could read an Ebert review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Your blurb was not unlike an Ebert take Raptorman.

The Ghost and the Darkness

Val Kilmer & co. vs Bloodthirsty Lions

Both teams lose

Not a bad movie, scary as all heck. Gets a B- rating

Prisoners was a fantastic movie. Exactly what I expected going in with the previews and the great actors.

The Master

Was channel surfing last night on satellite and I see a scene where Philip Seymour Hoffman is singing at a party and then suddenly all of the women at the party are naked but that's just going on in the head of the main character, a drunk scarred after world war 2 I'm guessing played by Phoenix who trolled everyone with that rap documentary a while back. Watched 20 mins of that before I had to stop but in this he was unreal like all of the actors especially Hoffman in one of his last roles in a movie. Directed nicely too and it was added on Netflix 3 days ago

9/10

Snowpiercer. 12 out of 10

Completely original, and at the same time utterly unoriginal in that it rehashes everything from plato's republic to brazil (there's even a character named Gilliam). I think i'll be watching this one more than once, and i never do that anymore.

Speaking of terry gilliam - his latest has been released straight to dvd. Fucking nuts. Gotta download it and check it out next.

I didn't see the appeal with Snowpiercer to be honest. I don't think Chris Evans fit the lead role, and I didn't find it entertaining to watch, nor did I think the story was that interesting. I found it very odd that it's getting such rave reviews from critics, and now one of the better posters on the rapsforum. I don't get it.

Coming at it expecting to see a regular narrative structure probably won't work. There didn't seem to be a need for a typical lead man to me. I found the film was just about the train. The train shaped everything, and the only story was just figuring out the puzzle from one end to the other and what it meant or didn't mean to do so. It all seemed like a wonderfully absurd projection of the world today. Had it been more straight up scifi action, or if i looked for it to be such, i would not have gotten much out of it.

Just watched expendables 3, same as the other 2 so if you liked em, watch it. If you didn't, don't.

Robocop 2014

Heck no this wasn't as good as the first Robocop. It felt like I was watching a watered down version of Ironman on a Suzuki. I was waiting for Gary Oldman or Samuel Jackson to sell me a cellphone throughout the movie. Never happened, but what did happen was a bouncy, cheesy movie plot with lots of high tech babble, with a few tecked up shooting scenes wrapped in there.

This movie gets a D+ from me. The original Robocop is one of my favorites of all time, but did not add to my semi-poor rating of this movie. And when did the original Robocop shoot high powered tazer paint balls at people?? Lookout, Robo might taze you!

22 Jump Street

Wow. One homophobic joke after another. I get that police are "partners" but did the writers stop at that one joke? Irony of the night was I took a gay buddy of mine so he could take his mind off his guy he broke up with that day. NOW THAT WAS FUNNY! (For both of us)

Lucy (We snuck in)

Lucy is a movie of a very cool concept. What if we gained 100% of our brains capacity blah blah blah. So the movie demonstrates what the author thought. AND THATS IT! No story. No real plot. Movie seemed to be adapted from a science paper and nothing much more added. Many Scarlett Bewby shoots however!! Gay buddie wasn't impressed.
