War movies when the US is at war (which seems to be ALWAYS) need to be watched with a grain of salt.

Flag waving and propaganda.

Re-watched Melancholia. Kirsten Dunst really punches above her weight in it. If von Trier didn't make the comments he did at the time, I'm almost positive it would've been nominated for at least one award.

I'll probably go back and re-watch anti-christ.

What comments did he make? I watched it to see the bewbs and was pleasantly surprised with how great the movie is.

I saw American Hustle on the plane back from Mexico. It was enjoyable enough, but not anything as masterful as i've heard. Some great acting. Felt like too many other movies though. I liked Silver Linings Playbook much more.

I watched it online and it was pretty bad tbh. Better than Superman Returns but that's not saying much.

it still had it's flaws...but taking away the 3D made it much more enjoyable for me
here's hoping that Batman/Superman is much better

One flew over the Cuckoos nest - 9.2/10

The Deer Hunter - 8.4/10

12 angry men - 9.1/10

Schindlers list 9.5/10

All of the above are purely classics with only the Deer Hunter having slow points but the deep meaning behind each word is quite powerful; not to mention the ending!

Also Hunger Games 2. That big budget and unoriginal screenplay in accordance to the first film did not mix and it didn't fool anyone. That along with the incomparable story line makes it one of the most disappointing movies of the year.

Hunger Games 2 - 5.2/10

Lost another point for the shocking ending

If you haven't already guessed I'm a movie collector, and have seen a lot of the best movies in the business. I have only given one 10 before in my life to the Shawshank redemption. I have just completed the legendary series the man with no name (dollars series, spaghetti series) but I have to give a 10 to the good, bad, and the ugly. Truly masterful and would recommend to anyone. Masterpiece doesn't do it justice.

Once Upon a Time in the West is the one I fell in love with.

Was listening to Dire Straits' Once Upon a Time In The West at the gym this morning and automatically starting thinking of the movie

Just might be THE best opening scene in a movie...ever

imo Shawshank redemption is a bit overrated. Great movie for sure, but sites like imdb any many others rate it as a hands down greatest of all time. And I don't agree with it. my top 10 list would look something like that:

The pulp fiction
The Pianist
Schindler's list
Fight Club
One flew over the cookoo's nest
The Silence of the Lambs
Shawshank redemption
Se7en
American History X
The Dark Knight

Honorable mentions: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. LOTR, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Léon: The Professional, Forrest Gump
