I pretty much agree. I'd say maybe an 8.5/10.

There were a few parts that were tough to watch, but the movie was really well done.

I watched the space beyond the pines with gosling, cooper, and mendez

8.5 out of ten. it was a really good acting performance by all of them. gosling was his usual brilliant self and cooper is keeping up his new level. very satisfied. great story to it. a bit long, but because of the story it needed to be. didn't feel bored or tired once.

I also rewatched 500 days of summer. I'd forgotten how great it was. 11/10

Total Recall (new one) - You got Blade Runner meets Tron meets the new James Bond, while trying vaguely to follow the Total Recall storyline. But this remix did not cut it for me. There was about 5 times where they had the jump on Colin Farrell, but they just yelled freeze! Drop your weapon! Instead of shooting him. Then when they did shoot at him, the bad guys couldn't hit the left side of a barn. Jessica Biel in skimpy outfits would've made this movie 10 times better.

Zero Dark Thirty. don't understand how it got nominated for an Oscar but it wasn't a bad film. 7/10

Jack Reacher. character of the main villain wasn't developed well. main chick wasn't a good actor. rest of it was decent if you like Cruise. 6/10

Dogma

It's Jay & Bob vs. Ben Affleck & Matt Damon. Solid comedy for the most part.

8/10

Iron Man 3

a decent flick overall but comic book geeks are going to be outraged over how a certain character was portrayed in the film (i can't believe Marvel actually gave this script the green light)

for non geeks...i'd give it a 7/10...fun movie with lots of laughs and really good special effects...and RDJ nails Stark once again

for geeks...i'd give it a 5/10...i felt completely let down by the "twist"...could have been SO much better if they followed a certain character's true comic book roots

My thoughts exactly. However I think for the non geeks it was a huge let down. It was worse than the 2nd and much worse than the first.

hated the 2nd one. it was awful imo, especially since the first one was so good. Won't be watching the 3rd.

6.5/10

Great disappointment, does anyone know how to make a decent horror movie these days?

Gangster Squad is The Untouchables rewritten by 12 y/os. Brutal. Some comments on IMDB claim it's spos to be a comedic salute to gangster movies, but is has some very violent scenes...along with plenty of terrible scenes.

There might be an equation brewing. The more stars in a film, the more chance it has to suck. ie Movie 43
