me ?...i pretty much stood up and clapped

Well to be fair to The original, "Batman" was a different and much lighter movie. Nicholson was hilarious in that movie.

agreed, Jack was great in that film...his portrayal was perfect for Burton's universe

Clooney's awesome but I don't think that he's ever been the "action star" type that the role would have required (under Nolan's direction).

Bale fits it pretty well IMO.

Then you're dismissing a solid movie. And it's done somewhat tastefully. Not as lame as it sounds out to be.

As for the Clooney line, Bale is a better actor in general than him. Clooney plays the middle aged guy quite well. Bale immerses himself in the character (whatever the role) similar to (but not as well) as Daniel Day Lewis. You cannot compare the two.

On a personal note, there's very few George Clooney films that admire (O Brother Where Art Thou, Michael Clayton, Good Night and Good Luck - mostly because of David Strathairn's brilliant performance as Ed Murrow - belonging in the 'good' pile).

Have you seen "The Descendents" and "Up in the Air"?

I thought that both of those were exceptional.

I thought Michael Clayton was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I dont even know how I made it through the whole thing.

i'm with thriller on that, michael clayton was a piece of crap. not everyone hits a homer run with every swing, though. you look at the films he's been in and i've enjoyed more than i thought i wasted my time watching.

i wouldn't say that either bale is a better actor than clooney. i understand that he immerses himself into roles, the only issue with that is that his roles aren't versatile enough to really admire his dedication. he has his genre and he hasn't really stepped outside of it. i'm weird with bale, though. i think ive enjoyed basically everyone of his films, i'm just not particularly fond of him.

edit - i just wanted to add that daniel day-lewis is the greatest actor ever!!!!!

when I was referring to the dark knight rises not being as good as the dark knight and mentioning the villain - I was hinting at the difference in villain which was used (most iconic vs a little unknown to the general populace). I didn't mention HL (although he did well - I just wish there was some laughing gas in that movie but that's just me). I think the dark knight would've done possibly better had it ended when dent showed his face to gordon.

the ending of the dark knight is what made it so brilliant in my opinion. it was a take on human psycology, on what we NEED to do right, where sometimes the truth actually destroys us and it's better to have the general populace live in a lie. that psycological angle is what made me stare into space for a couple minutes after the movie, with billions of thoughts going through my head.

it was a good ending no doubt. but when they were about to show his face I was thinking in the theatre - wow - I wonder what's going to happen in the next film.

Clooney is one of my favourite actors. I love his style, he speaks so well. Doesn't do a lot of high budget films for the most part or so it seems. Seem to win a lot of awards at film festivals and such.

Glad in a way that Bale and Nolan will be leaving the Batman franchise. I prefer the 80's/90 Batman style then the seriousness Nolan brings to the table.
