gurk - too bad you guys didn't talk about it much. that was a pretty significant moment in world history. i haven't seen that particular movie, but any time you can entertain people and teach at the same time it's a pretty good thing.

interesting stuff in your class nolimitz. did your teacher try and connect these things to what you were learning in the class before you watched it?

True bro, the depiction of the Pharisses (Jews) is really negative but hey, we all know about Gibson's drunken hate speech with the cop right?

Well, we have been learning about Christianity for a while now. We knew about the crucifixion of Christ but that was about it.

you want a discussion movie?

Zeitgeist Addendum, along with the original Zeitgeist are definitely flicks to get your mind moving and asking questions about the world we live in

Just watched the Usual Suspects last night. I'm appalled that it took me so long to watch that movie.

All twists at the end of every thriller movie should use the twist at the end of the Usual Suspects as a benchmark. Epic, absolutely epic.

Haven't seen the movie yet... but my curiosity has always been peaked due to the rumours surrounding it....

Wasn't this supposed to be the flight that was "supposedly" shot down by the government?

Thirteen Days is an interesting movie if you've never encountered the Cuban Missile Crisis. However, if a history teacher is only showing that movie to teach about it, then as a historian I'm saddened. A simple trip to the library will allow you to access the actual tapes which, are surprising to the say the least. You get a real feel for the time and how policy was being constructed with JFKs cabinent (McNamarra and RFK being the two most vocal).

As for Zeitgeist, I have some serious problems with that film. The person is oversimplifying matters, espescially in regards to economics. Take it for what it is and then go do some research and find out for yourself. My biggest complaint is its ushered an entire new generation of people who think they know what they're talking about based on watching a movie but are too lazy to go to the library and actually conduct the research to see where the truth(s) are.

Probably my favorite movie ever.

I just saw 3 movies on the train to TOR. 88 MM was gross, 5.6/10. Tropic Thunder was good shit but it wasnt top level comedy, 6.7/10, and Gross Pointe Blank was very entertaining and a solid movie overall. 8.2/10

Yup Clint Eastwood sure is great...I watched his newest film today, Gran Turino

Plot : Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski's prized possession: his 1972 Gran Torino.

Great movie, great acting by Eastwood

8.5/10

"Real Time"

a great canadian flick shot and situated in hamilton. an addicted gambler and general all-around loser is picked up by a hitman who gives him an hour to live and takes him around to make sure he spends his last hour in his own way. great story, fantastic ending. well acted, well directed. it's essentially a two-man play with a couple of side actors, but it carries it's 75 minutes well. i loved it.

8.5/10

Step Brothers - 8/10

I love Will Ferrell so my rating might be slightly tainted, but I thought he and John C. Reilly did a great job. Stupid humour, but I'm easily amused. Testicles on instruments are very funny, very funny.
