I worked there last summer with a band. When I walked around, a small tear came to my eye. The place was SO uncared for. All the rides needed a coat of paint and a good cleaning. Everything looked the same from when I went there as a kid (thats the early 70's for those keeping score).
Very sad and neglected.

Cue the "OMG! Why did the tear down Ontario Place?" Facebook groups.

I watched Gimme shelter last night.

Holy fuck what a powerful film.

I've seen it a couple times before, but it's been probably 8 years since the last time. (I just bought the criterion DVD the other day). The thing that blows my mind is the realism (or surrealism) of it all. These weren't recreated scenes even though they seem so insane that it's hard to believe what's going down. Especially some of the details that you see. the fucked up hippies, the messed up behavior from the Hells Angels, the looks on peoples' faces among the chaos. One of the most moving images for me was a shot of this young girl by the stage with tears streaming down her face as the stones played.

Keith Richards was so damn cool back then.

There's a really weird Jean-Luc Godard film called One Plus One aka Sympathy For The Devil. Stuff about Marxism, revolution, the Black Panthers cut into long shots of the guys working on Sympathy in the studio. Keith on bass, Mick on guitar, Brian on every substance under the sun. Marianne and Anita on backing vocals.

This is some of the studio footage...

yeah i have read a fair bit about it, but i haven't seen it. I'll make a point of looking out for it now given how i am going through a bit of a stones phase right now. The stones were such a great band when they were at their peak.

I watched this last night. Gets a 8/10 from me.

Next time the Raptors lose to the Bobcats I'm going to picture a blue sky with fluffy clouds, and play this song in my head.

I watched FIVE films yesterday!! and went to liverpool v brighton in the football!

i've done double bills many times, i've watched 3 films in a day a few times, but five in a day, still can't believe i did it. I was just in the mood and straight after watching one file i was like, "yeah, i could watch another." Here's a brief description of what i watched.

midnight in paris- that woody allen film that's been nominated for an oscar. Really entertaining. Kind of vacuous but some nice themes, looking at people being too much stuck in the past.

towe heist- not high quality, but entertaining and a good cast.

contagion- good disaster movie, terrific ensemble cast.

big nothing- 2006 film, really black comedy with simon pegg and david schwimmer. Bit hamfisted at times shifting from the comedy to the dark stuff but enjoyable and worth a watch.

hanna- loved it. Got great reviews. One negative review said "starts off like a house on fire and then drifts a bit." kind of agree with that, but for me, still very enjoayble, classy and held my interest all the way through.

definitely gonna do more 3, 4, 5 films in a day, was really fun!
