Yea Matthew Vaughn never disappoints: Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-ass and I think he was a producer on the older Guy Ritchie movies like Lock, Stock and Snatch.

big guy moving on up

i watched about schmidt on bravo last night. it's the 3rd time i've seen it. i just love that movie. nicholson is fantastic playing the exact opposite of the guy he really is. possibly his best acting job. and dermot mulroney's character is such a douchebag.

Well I saw a lot of movies recently so rather than describe each I'll just link the IMDB.

Lincoln Lawyer - The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) - IMDb

I thought this movie was awesome, I was told beforehand that it was a good movie from a friend. Really enjoyed it start to finish, and couldn't quite predict what was going to happen 100% like I usually can. Recommend this movie to anyone!

Rango - Rango (2011) - IMDb

Well I knew what this movie was kinda, but never really read about it much beforehand. I think partly I wasn't really in the movie mood when I wanted this, but for some reason I didn't like it, not that it was a bad movie, I just didn't like it for no apparent reason (like I said I just think I wasn't in the mood to see a movie.) Felt like I kept waiting for a laugh I never got.

Limitless - Limitless (2011) - IMDb

Surprisingly I had never even heard of this movie before I watched it, and givin what the description on IMDB said I wasn't too keen on watching it right away, but I did. Too say the least I liked this movie A LOT, had a good story, had good twists and overall had good acting. Starting to like Bradley Cooper more and more as an actor, outside of the hangover movies.

Hangover 2 - The Hangover Part II (2011) - IMDb

Well this movie was awesome, I loved the first one and loved this one too. Not much more to say than that.

Fast Five - Fast Five (2011) - IMDb

I was never a huge fan of these movies because of the way they butchered the physics and reality of cars and what they can do... and the garbage nonsense words they threw around thinking it was actually real. BUT I actually liked this fast & furious a lot.

The Speed Of Thought - The Speed of Thought (2011) - IMDb

Wasn't sold on this movie at first, and still wasn't a huge fan at the end, but it was still worth the watch and wasn't a bad movie. But wasn't huge on it. Regardless worth a watch.

Hall Pass - Hall Pass (2011) - IMDb

This movie had so much potential to be better than it actually was with different actors. Hell even more potential with the actors it had. It was an all right movie but some parts were really really lame. BUT the very end of the movie made me burst out laughing because givin the same situation, I'd of done the same thing (and by end I mean like the last 3 minutes of the movie) It was worth a watch for sure though as it had its moments.

Cedar Rapids - Cedar Rapids (2011) - IMDb

Another movie I had never heard of prior to watching it, and I have to say other than a few spots this movie sucked. Thats all there is to say.

Thor - Thor (2011) - IMDb

Got pretty much what I was expecting out of this movie, huge Marvel fan. Could of been better, but considering Hollywood almost never does anything right, it wasn't too bad at all. Was well worth the watch.

Vanishing on 7th street - Vanishing on 7th Street (2010) - IMDb

They had a really cool idea to this movie, but I either missed something in the middle (possible) or they really fucked this movie up bad... I won't say how in case I just totally missed it. If I didn't thought, this movie was complete garbage and I'm pissed I watched it.

If someone watches this movie and wants me to explain what I mean feel free, but I'd like to not ruin it in case someone wants to watch it. Which I'd recommend because if I did miss what I think I did, its a good movie.

And last but not least!

I am number 4 - I Am Number Four (2011) - IMDb

Didn't know a whole lot about the movie but was told it was a good movie. Wasn't quite what I expected but was a good movie regardless, had good twists and decent acting, was worth the watch.

Well I told you I saw a lot movies but this was over like the last month, and I watch tons of movies, could of actually thrown more in but decided not to. I might later on if I remember :cookie: (had to have an emote in here somewhere)

X-Men First Class: 8.5/10

Dope. It's kind of petty but I thought the powers from a couple of the mutants were weak (i.e. sonar and the butterfly...so whack) and Professor X is supposed to be the most powerful mutant but I didn't get that sense from the movie. I'm not an X-Men fanboy so I don't know if it's because they had to stick to sources, maybe someone could shed some light there.

Really enjoyed it aside from that.

Going to go watch First Class tonight, it's got really good reviews so far. I hope it's amazing so I can finally get over that X3 debacle where so many X-Men died, and don't even get me started on the Wolverine movie. -_-

X-Men: First Class

have to be honest and say it was a big Meh for me...i enjoyed it, but there were just too many annoying things for me to give this film high marks

why Havok and not Cyclops ?...made no sense
where was Iceman, Jean Grey and Angel ?...(original First Class line-up)
since when did Hank McCoy develop "Flash like" speed ???
everytime i looked at Banshee i saw Rupert Grint from Harry Potter (annoying as hell)
Emma Frost....dull, dull, dull
Angel Salvadore...was there seriously any need for this C-list character at all ??
Moira MacTaggert...she's NOT CIA, she's a Noble Prize winning geneticist

so many other little things that bugged the hell out of me when watching this

that being said, the performances of McAvoy and Fassbender were excellent...Bacon's portrayal of Shaw was very good as well
if not for these 3 then i think this film would probably have been a major fail

i can't give it anymore than a 7/10

Movies I watched over the last couple days:

XMen First Class: don't know a lot about the history of the Xmen so I can't really nitpick over everything but I was impressed with how the movie came together. Really enjoyed it.

9/10

Henry's Crime

New Keanu Reeves movies with Vera Farmiga (sp?) and James Caan. really great acting in this movie, not a bad comedy. Was really impressed with James Caan, I mean I only know him from the Godfather but he had the best performance in this movie.

7.5/10

The Ghost Writer

just finished watching it right now, had the movie on my HD for a while. Impressive direction and acting. Really had me engaged, really suspenseful in some scenes. Ending kinda scared me though, I know the movie is fictional but how many people are erased like that like it's nothing?

9/10

saw super 8 at a avx theatre or w.e its called
chairs are nicer and you can reserve seating. The screen was bigger and the sound was a lot louder. Movie was alright, kinda like cloverfield where the character moves slowly and loud sounds suddenly happen. The movie looked very real as it looked as if the objects really hit you. Good movie but not memorable for me. I didn't find the supernatural force very exciting. A lot of special effects and good acting by the kids. 8/10

It's $15 to watch at the avx theatre btw.

I love how theaters basically force you to watch the 3D version of the movie. 8 showings of the 3D version and 1 or 2 for the regular.

Saw Biutiful last night.

Bardem with a fantastic performance. The movie is outstanding as well. It continuously punches you in the stomach when you think there'll be some redeeming quality.

I just saw Tree of Life. It's pretty incredible, but if you're expecting things like a plot or dialogue, then you'll be a bit pissed. It's basically a guy trying to regain the consciousness he had as a child, which included trying to see everything as God does. There's an amazing totality to it. The sun is a constant. It practically pulses through the entire film, marking out space and time, and just being a constant, along with the totality of life. It felt like I relived my entire childhood in the 2 hours and 20 minutes that the film ran, or more accurately, recovered a good bit of a sense of the consciousness from then, just like the Sean Penn character does in the film. It's one of the most remarkable films I've seen, although there is no way to compare it to anything else, except bits and pieces of other Malik films.

Hmm...I read an article about it in Maclean's. I'm interested in seeing it. I might wait until it's on cable, though.
