had the potential to be great, but limited acting and an unclear story line in which things didnt add up hurt it. much too hyped. i would say limitless was better thought out

this is my 666 post

I can't sleep, so I'm watching American Wedding on some cable channel. I forgot how much the kid in me loves these movies. In this one, Stiffler pretends to be a goodie-goodie in an attempt to get laid. Comedic gold.

I'm on a Mike Leigh kick right now. Secrets and Lies was on TVO on the weekend. It was great to see it again. You have to check out this one scene in particular. Brenda Blethyn is brilliant. She is meeting up with a woman who is claiming she is her birth mother. Her reaction at around the one-minute mark is just palpable as she realizes the truth. And all the nervous tension that follows is so enjoyable to watch.

YouTube - secrets and lies
incredible scene and an incredible movie. more incredible because of the improvisational nature of the film. as i'm sure you know, blethyn and marriane jean-baptiste had never met each other before that scene was filmed and blethyn didn't know she was black. just an astonishing but of acting. my wife has referred to it as possibly the single greatest moment of acting of all time.

I always thought that Leigh's films were improvised. He pointed out on the CBC last year that he doesn't improvise at all in the filming. He has a separate process before filming where they improvise. It was in the improv process that the two actors in the scene first met each other, so you're not far off - I just wanted to correct the common misconception.
