Hubby and I saw "The King's Speech" last night ... so good. 9/10. Colin Firth, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Geoffrey Rush were brilliant.

saw Down By Law (1986) and catfish a few days ago. the first one was amazing, i loved the feel, style and pace of the movie the music is great too. yje begining was a little boring for me though (maybe because i started watching it at 2am). i give it an 8/10

then i saw Catfish, which was quite shocking. overall it good, but i wouldn't watch it a second time. ~7/10

Little Fockers

don't think I laughed once and it's weird how so many great actors/actresses wasted their time with this and at the end where they kind of set it up for another please God I pray that it never happens.

although this is a remake, i think it's a bit different than the others. firstly it's the coen's, and i give them a lifetime exemption from any sellouts for the originality of their current body of work. secondly, the john wayne film is a watered down version of the book. from what i understand (i have not read the book) the violence and 'grit' were too much for 1969 values, so they hollywood-ized the whole thing. the coen's version seems to be an attempt at properly doing the book rather than a remake of the 1969 film.

edit - ethan coen had this to say:

Quote:
It's partly a question of point-of-view. The book is entirely in the voice of the 14-year-old girl. That sort of tips the feeling of it over a certain way. I think [the book is] much funnier than the movie was so I think, unfortunately, they lost a lot of humour in both the situations and in her voice. It also ends differently than the movie did. You see the main character—the little girl—25 years later when she's an adult. Another way in which it's a little bit different from the movie—and maybe this is just because of the time the movie was made—is that it's a lot tougher and more violent than the movie reflects. Which is part of what's interesting about it.[4]
i'll wait to see how good it is, but i don't expect this to be your standard hollywood remake. it's a cool story.

I went to see it earlier today.

- I had a few problems with it, but it was definitely entertaining.

- Bale's acting is amazing.

- I want to marry Amy Adams.

true grit 9.5/10

jeff bridges stole the show, he was awesome. matt damon and josh brolin fantastic in supporting roles. the girl who played mattie is a good little actress too. no filler scenes in this movie, felt like every scene was significant and contributed to the climax. must-see movie, one of my favourites.

I plead ignorance to any problems with the boxing scenes .. I know nothing about boxing, so they looked good to me.

I seen THE FIGHTER yesterday and I seen Narnia, VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER sunday past,.
Narnia was as expected, but THE FIGHTER was amazing. If Christian Bale doesnt get nominated for a Academy award, i will be very surprised.
