Some brillant beats and lyrics, best song by far is 50K deep, about the riot in Seattle a few years back.
Another quality band is Cunninlyngist, best album 'A piece of strange', truly excellent listening. 'Blazing arrow' by Blackalicious is also superb, infact just about anything you can get your hands on related to Quannum records/ projects is guaranteed to be top notch, usually with DJ shadow or Cut chemist doing the spinning.
I thought I was the only person in the world who listened to Blue Scholars. You should check out Common Market if you haven't already. Both guys are signed under Rhymesayers and they both work with Sabzi. Wicked flow, very deep, very articulate music. Love it. He's from Seattle and gets up to BC every once in a while, you should peep him. Anything from Rhymesayers is pretty key to be honest.

Big L wouldn't have been slept on, he was just in and out of the game way too fast. Right when it looked like he was gonna explode and get big he was gone. Same kinda thing with Pun, Biggie and Pac. Dudes were huge while they were alive, would have loved to see what they would have done with more time...

I dunno... Biggie and Pac (especially) had a HUGE following while they were alive. sure, when they died they became even bigger, but fact is, they were hugely popular before they passed.
Big L and Pun weren't all that popular, they just started getting big - then all of a sudden they were gone.
i remember getting Big Punisher's album when it first came out because i really liked Fat Joe and Terror squad and knew Pun's album would be good, i absolutely loved it... but it wasnt very popular in every circle... not like Biggie's or pac's.

I didn't necessarily mean to relate Big L to Biggie, Pac and Pun. You just look at what they all did while they were alive and wonder just how far they could have gone had they still been alive.

Something tells me they coordinated their deaths. They're all living on an island writing rhymes and they'll come back as a super group.

What's wrong with his solo?

I guess I should've opted for the clip of him jamming with John Paul Jones and Ben Harper.

Would that have met your seal of approval?

Right now I'm diggin on Joe Budden's group, Slaughterhouse. I love grimey beats and good flow.

Fabolous has a few good tracks on Loso's Way, but it's not fantastic by any means.
