Oh its not terrible by any means. But we deserve a lot more in comparison to a lot of jobs for the amount of agony and pain we endure all day. 15 km+ every day in tit deep snow is hard man. With fresh gear every 600 meters. Not to mention the other hazards. Its a hardass job.

Chiggmo, sorry if I'm late, but what exactly do you do? Sounds difficult on the body.

+1

All you need to do is look minimum wage jobs and how hard they often are. I've made min wage and worked 10x harder physically than i do now. My current job is far from easy to say the least. A lot harder then people would think but physically....not at all. I've seen people come and go in my profession, it's specialized for sure which is why i get paid a decent wage.

Boss offered me tickets to the Buffalo vs. Carolina game (real barnburner) tomorrow in Buffalo. Thing is, my passport is expired. Am I able to cross the border with a driver's license, birth certificate, etc.? I'm asking here because I'm reading mixed things online.

Neighbor a few doors down had his house broken into. My wife is now looking @ getting alarm (understandable) but just curious to see if anyone here has any experience with these companies.

We're doing our research (cost/contracts etc.) but I'd like to hear some real experiences.

Thanks!

Seismic testing for a company called eagle Canada. Line crew. WAY harder than anything I've ever done in my life by far. About as physically intense as you can get man its hard the first while.

Im with rogers smart home monitoring, not sure about the cost/contract but the service is great. It runs your alarm through wifi as well as cellular, so cutting your phone lines wont be enough for someone trying to rob your place. You can also use your cell phone to arm and disarm the system, it has a camera and you also have a distress code you can type. For example, if you set your alarm and leave your house and someone is standing outside and forces you to turn the alarm off, you type the distress code in and its a silent alarm. Has smoke/carbon monoxide tracking as well I believe. My parents py for it so the price I am not sure of, but I really liked it as it was a hige upgrade from when we had ADT

my ex-girlfriend lived close to rexdale, nice area but still the proximity to a little rougher area meant that break-ins happened somewhat often. her sister's boyfriend was a police officer and had her family install CCTV cameras (not even functional, just dead cameras) on the outside of the house. three at the front of the house ,two at the back. the result was no break-ins at any point while their neighbours house was broken into and a house a couple of doors down was broken into as well.

the security system might give you the peace of mind but just having cameras on the outside, even if they're not working, is a great preventative measure. the two together would be great.

Thanks for the suggestion (and box as well).

I'd personally be ok with that idea, however, my wife has a low sense of security and therefore it will just give her peace of mind.

I just thought about getting a dog, but with a new child and an existing pet in a cat that isn't good with other animals, just not the time to have one just yet.

That sounds awesome. I know it must be tough on you, but those jobs are the most satisfying. And you don't need a gym membership anymore.
