We get Letterman Jackets

You have to be apart of the cool crowd or be on a sports team to wear them though.

I like the potential of the Raptors core group of players getting more experience playing together as well as last season's rookies developing BUT I still think the Raptors are a 35 win team max. I predict they'll get the 8th pick in the draft as a result.

The first day back to work after any and I mean any time-off always sucks. That said, being away, just simply talking with loved ones about what's important in life, priorities and goals, helps you re-focus.

cladius, are you still thinking of that career change just because the field you're in now is just too demanding? just asking.

i was working to become a bank teller, then work my way into full time and other positions there. unfortunately i went into work every day as a perfectionist and kept saying to myself "dont screw this up" all the time. when the job became more stressful i had my superiors and co-workers just give me crap and i just went in everyday thinking that if i get through this i'm gonna get paid 22 - 30 an hour. fortunately i had a good talk with my mom and dad who clearly saw me more tired and frustrated everyday and so i changed my career into becoming a developmental service worker.

i just graduated recently and even though i work weird hours, like 2am to 8am but i love the job. yes it pays a lot less and much more demanding because im responsible for some people's livelihood, but i feel i made the right choice. though i had to delete my facebook account and make a new one because i was getting comments from so called friends, that i was a quitter or i wasn't meant for success, i didn't mind anymore. i'm proud of my choice.

anyway heres a picture i felt was related for your comment lol

(btw this is why i think i prefer the simpsons rather than family guy)

lol that pic is awesome.

Really, after talking to a lot of friends I think I'm just going through that point in your life where you're really thinking hard about what you wanna get out of life. There's some people who are focussed on the money aspect and what it brings them. They'll sacrifice a bit of their life for the money. That's fine. That's what they want in life and it's cool.

For me, lately, life has been far more important. Seeing people get sick just really puts things in perspective quickly. Like this job @ this place demands so much of you in a reactionary matter and you know what, some people thrive in that situation. Me, I'm a pretty easy-going guy who relies on plans, order and then eventual execution with enough thought out plans that incorporate contingencies (i.e. emergencies, crisis etc.).

Anyways, I've started to really pursue some of my passions, talk to members of my network and just get a lay of the land. I know what I can and I know what I can't do and it's just a matter of doing some things now. Essentially, I'm at the point where I will milk what I can from where I am now, leave and then just do what I need to do (if that makes sense )

i got to the point of being hyper-stressed with work and not seeing enough of my family. then my mom died suddenly and everything was put in a whole new perspective. so i quit my job and have been home with my kids since august while my wife works.

it's a different kind of stress now, but there is a lot more meaning to it, and it is on my terms, not my employer's or my staff's. it won'y be forever - just another year - but i finally feel like i am doing something i am never going to regret, which is a change from my working life, even though i liked my job and was proud of it.

we will never have the time to do everything we want to, so i felt that it was critical to focus on the things that were most important. i can fill in the rest later.

Really well-thought out response and essentially along the lines my thinking.

honestly I'm just getting into it myself. Not sure what exactly you want to start, but for the philo club it's a student group not a "society" (unless that's just a term your using). for me, we have to get re-affiliated where there's a form we have to fill out/probably get signed by the other head and I and the professor who's the liason for us.

as for anything else I can think of, the best place to start may be to just call your university's student union or something similar, and see what process/needs you need to fulfill.

Also, Ryerson has a week of welcome, or a name similar to that. It's the first week of classes where they have events and such on campus that showcase to students how to get involved where clubs, groups, etc set up booths and get emails, etc. Ask your student union if and how to get a booth or something if you have a similar week.

Nothing else to say. good luck!

oh and try getting another or couple more people to run it with you. the last leader explained the ridiculous amount of work it entailed, and she had help
