i don't get what the fuss is here... it's not like they objected to the name on moral grounds, they just thought it would be a great marketing opportunity to get this story in the news. and it worked. what's the big deal?

There's no fuss. It's just silly and PETA being PETA. They've made some dumb decisions from a marketing standpoint (Pamela Anderson) over the years.
