Default Official NCAA Thread

In case anyone is wondering YES the 2008/2009 NCAA Basketball season has arrived. Personally I like the college game miles better than the NBA game. More of a "team" oriented game and the constant mistakes the young athlethes make usually lead to excitement.

Tonight the Syracuse Orange (my team) stunned the (#18)Florida Gators 89-83. Canadian Andy Rauntins and Freshman Canadian Kris Joesph looked dynamite off the bench. As usual Paul Harris did his thing and Flynn looked awesome at the 1 spot.

Other scores for today goes as follows

1 North Carolina 77 10:54
Chaminade 39 2nd Half

23 Kansas 32 Halftime
Washington 22

2 Connecticut 76 Final
19 Wisconsin 57

Saint Joseph's 50 Final
7 Texas 68

Indiana 50 Final
8 Notre Dame 88

21 Miami (FL) 80 Final
San Diego 45

Winston-Salem 31 Final
24 Wake Forest 62

Florida Atlantic 60 Final
25 Davidson 76

Andy lifted the team in the 1st half just shooting the lights out from the 3 spot. You have to remember he is still getting into game shape so it'll take a month of so for him to really be consistent and for cuse having Devendorf and Flynn they look solid at Guard

Andy's Line tonight

The Canadian that surprised me was Freshman Montrealer Kris Joesph off the bench

was watching the Fresno V St Marys game last week. Quality freshman at Fresno by the name of Paul George looked the goods.

St Marys for the sweet 16 this year

OK Syracuse winning a preseason tourney beating defending champion Jayhawks in OT. Flynn taking the game to OT showing yet again he is for real. Paul Harris showing doubters wrong and he could be lead forward for this orange squad bringing in yet another brilliant preformance.

Cuse was down by as much as 16 in the beginning of the 2nd half but show true grit taking this game to OT and eventually winning

Rautins with his first start of the season gets 9pts and 2rebs and other fellow Canadian Kris Joseph also with his first start showing donuts with a mere one assist. Not a good night for the Canadians but thank god for Flynn.

Syracuse now 4-0 beating 2 ranked apponents. Someone please rank this team.

Other scores for today go as follows

1 North Carolina 98 Final
Oregon 69

Belmont 60 Final
4 Pittsburgh 74

7 Texas 80 Final
8 Notre Dame 81

Texas Southern 68 Final
15 Marquette 85

18 Florida 86 Final
Washington 84

Monmouth 48 Final
22 Villanova 71

23 Kansas 81 Final
Syracuse 89 OT

Loyola (MD) 48 Final
25 Davidson 78

Bizarre basketball Strategy
Loyola of Maryland loses by 30 points, but the talk of the game is how it happened.

By the third possession, Davidson’s Stephen Curry had figured it out. Loyola (Md.) was double-teaming him. Everywhere, on each possession, no matter what the scenario.

So Curry decided to test the triangle-and-2 defense taken to the ultimate extreme. He went into the corner and two defenders followed him, setting up a 4-on-3 for his teammates.

Curry decided to keep standing there, and his teammates kept scoring—for 40 minutes—in a 78-48 head-scratching win for the 24th-ranked Wildcats that will be remembered for some time.

The nation’s leading scorer was held without a point and took only three shots. But the game was never in doubt because Davidson played the entire game on a virtual power play.

All this was courtesy of a bizarre coaching move by Loyola’s Jimmy Patsos.

“We had to play against an NBA player tonight,” Patsos explained. “Anybody else ever hold him scoreless? I’m a history major. They’re going to remember that we held him scoreless or we lost by 30?”
