Thumbs up Netflix Canada has arrived

Quote:
For $7.99 a month, Canadians will be able to stream an unlimited number of movies and television shows from the company’s library starting immediately, Netflix announced Wednesday in Toronto.

“People ask, ‘oh you mean $7.99 a movie’ . . . And no, no, no, it’s $7.99 for unlimited TV shows and movies per month, which is just a phenomenal deal. It’s the lowest, most aggressive price we’ve ever had anywhere in the world,” said Reed Hastings, CEO and Co-founder of Netflix at the launch event in downtown Toronto.

Interested users can try out the service now at Netflix.ca for free for one month to see if it fits within their media diet.

While there is much glee that a service that hasn’t been available in the Canada is finally here, don’t go looking for something like Glee on it. Netflix’s library, while vast, isn’t a direct competitor to cable or even newly released DVDs. Studios and networks often delay making their content available on Netflix, so as not to erode revenue from those sources.

For example, the first three seasons of Mad Men are available, but none of the episodes from the fourth. Glee isn’t available at all. As well, the first five seasons of Trailer Park Boys are available, but the final two seasons are not.
Guessing this is why the 3.50 update came out for the PS3 yesterday too...shit that free month trial sounds too good to miss out on.

Netflix: Rent as many movies as you want for only $8.99 a month! Free Trial

is there a site that has the complete library listed ?
i've been looking for old Dr Who episodes...i would be greatly interested in paying a relatively small monthly fee in order to view them

just looked at Netflix.ca...doesn't look like they have anything

And it works on the iphone.

$8 a month? Awesomeness.

I can see me running out of choices real soon. Hopefully they jack them up.

Lemme know how it is. I'm a downloader, but this could change that. Maybe.

Click here.... Netflix Canada has arrived

And I am a downloader as well. Here's a chance to see some older movies. $8 is nothing really. I started American History. Great resolution.

Watched a couple movies that I wouldnt have without the FLIX.

Shine - already seen it but the gf hadnt.

Saved! - a comedy/religious movie that Michael Stipe produced (gf is huge REM fan).

So far it's been great. The movie list grows daily. I'll be happy to pay $8 a month.

That's sucks ... I can't watch blockbuster movies and popular tv shows. Well I'll cancel my subscription when my free trial is done.

Is the selection that bad?

I hate the fact we can't watch Hulu stuff or Comedy Central clips.

Yeah, the selection is not really good unless you're into mediocre movies.. I can't watch new released movies and the "well-received" movies. Maybe they don't release new movies and the good ones since we only pay them $8/month or maybe this is what they do for subscribers who are on free trial.
