Default NBA Live Review

Closing Comments
NBA Live 10, while it certainly has issues that people are going to gripe about, is exactly what the series needed to fire up its dwindling fan base and add new players alike. The gameplay is nicely refined and emulates real basketball with much greater success than past games. I expect NBA Live 11 to really step up and deliver more than this year’s game did in terms of modes. Couple some sort of career mode with the smooth gameplay and the next entry in the Live series could steal the crown away from 2K Sports.

Sounds like EA Sports if finally taking their heads out of their asses and trying to make something worth $60. Here's to looking forward to next year's version but for now 2K is still the way to go.

2k fixed the help defence and the tendencies. 2k was already better than live. Add in those 2 things plus my player and the new commentary, its not even close.

Lives players are too cartoony and the gameplay is better though it isnt even up to 2k9s(though its close), and I didnt like 2k9 no matter how much I tried fixing it. Live has the right idea with the dribbling/passing but with everything else 2k blows it out of the water.

Live is dumb though.....Their fanbase has dwindled so much and they would need to put out a significantly BETTER game than the 2k series to win it back.

I don't think they can do that!

Sure they can. It would take the same sort of effort that 2K did to steal people away from EA. It would take a proven track record and that sort of thing comes with time.

I don't disagree with that but that would have to assume the 2K starts screwing up!

All signs point to "no" on that.

EA became VERY complacent. Not only with NBA but the NHL series for a long time (which they have picked up the slack in).

They lost the license for the MLB which I thought was the only game they were doing a good job in.....I don't play FIFA but my understanding is that it was great.

They have put out so many overhyped junk products recently though. They use their advertising power to sell bad products but consumers are becoming more savvy.

THE NBA game to buy is a title that is 2K's to lose.

PS- I'm not a 2k fanboy, I think their baseball games are a fucking JOKE and their hockey is awful.

Yeah, they did drop the ball with their NHL series for around five year and 2K passed them. They put some energy into restoring that series to its once glory and now they have the best hockey game on the market and based on people I know, the most popular series too.

I think Maden is the most popular series.

Downloaded/played the Demo a few days ago. NBALive has all the bells and whistles, but the game play still has an NBAJAM feel IMO. 2K still gets my money until Live improves their gameplay.

The game looks terrible.

No flow, it's not smooth at all and the animations/physics engine is beyond deplorable.

I always find basketball games very complicated in terms of playing it realistically. too many button configurations to memorize for me. If LIVE is 'easier' to play than 2K, then i'd lean towards LIVE myself. I bought 2K last year and while i was very impressed with the realism and visuals, i found it too hard to get good at.

As for EAgames, it's a hit and miss video game company for me. I'm a huge fan of the FIFA series. For a few years hardcore soccer gamers preferred PES to FIFA much like people prefer 2K to LIVE. I've always supported FIFA though because of the massive database of teams and leagues that are included. However, FIFA definately has picked up the slack in the last few years and has greatly improved the realism of their gameplay.

Asshole!

seriously though i can't handle learning the nuances of a video game for hours and hours just to get to the point of not sucking. I just don't devote enough time to it.

It took me a like a year to get respectable at FIFA. and still i'm not very good.

I should just stick to games with quick learning curves. I guess that's why i love racing games so much.
