Default NBA fantasy draft

The hip-hop draft looked like fun, and since there's not a lot going in the NBA, Anyone want to have a fantasy draft of current NBA players, structured similar to the hip hop draft. I'm not really sure what we could do after but we could figure something out.

I'm down like the round mound of rebound.

In other words, it's on like Megatron playing Donkey Kong with Vince Vaughn.

Maybe we can have someone Sim games on 2k11 but it would take crazy long for someone to post all of the updates.

i had a plan to do this, but not with current players. sort of a hall of fame fantasy draft, or an all-time nba fantasy draft. i have been mulling over a few options in my head, but wanted to let the hip-hop draft finish first. if you guys would rather run one with only current nba players, go ahead. if you want me to run the all-time nba one, i will. lemme know your thoughts.

Yea I thought about that too but I don't know much about players before say 2000. This way everyone has a fair "scouting report". I was thinking that we should do the players as they are today...so you can't pick a player and say "in his prime", if you want shaq you get 39 year old shaq.

So so far we have 4 or 5 who are down. I would say we need a minimum of 10 and max of 30 people.

2 things worth thinking about -

in a all-time nba fantasy draft, there would be nothing to stop you from taking only players after 2000. there are plenty of superstars there. i'm also fairly confident that you know guys like jordan, magic johnson, larry bird, wilt chamberlain, etc, so there are older choices too, even if you don't know who pete maravich was.

one rule i had considered was that you would have to select the season for a particular player, but that player could not be picked again in any year. so you would have to say 1991-1992 jordan, for instance, and then mj would be off the board. you can't just say 'in his prime', and you can't have multiple selections of the same player.

If anyone is down for that, we can just create an online league with a fantasy draft.

Regardless, I'm in for this NBA fantasy draft.

I'm in if it's going to be All-Time. That's as much fantasy as I can take in. Well, that and True Blood episodes, but I only get through them on account of all the sex.

Re: the draft

I like both formats. I vote for doing both. Use current players for the group in this thread, and then start a whole new draft for people interested in taking a historical approach. The historical approach is more interesting, in my opinion, because it makes some choices tougher, especially if you're picking based just on their best season. For example, Vince Carter from 2000-2001 is an amazing player. I might take him over a guy like Ray Allen. But, if we're taking their whole career into account, I'd easily take Allen.

as i said, i'll run it if it is historical. if you guys want to do a current one, someone else will have to take it. i can wait on the historical one until later. it might be a long time before we have any non-fantasy nba hoops to discuss...
