Default Natasha Richardson dies after ski fall in Canada

Wow... shocking.

Quote:
Natasha Richardson, a film star, Tony-winning stage actress and a member of the famed Redgrave acting family, has died. She was 45. Richardson died after suffering injuries in a fall on a ski slope at a Quebec resort about 80 miles northwest of Montreal. She was talking and joking after the fall, resort officials said. But she was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

uyup.
supposedly she fell on the bunny hill and just complained of a little headache.
hours later, she complained of major pain in her head... when she got to the hospital she was already brain damaged.

thats horrible, and very scary.

RIP.

oh wow. Read it in the paper this morning and they listed her as being in critical condition. Had no clue she'd be dead so quickly.

RIP.

very sad to hear about her death.

It's suprising how such small accidents can have such dire consequences.

My condolences to her family and friends.

The instructors and ski patrol wanted her to go to the hospital immediatly, but she refused. They stayed with her for about an hour and then she started complaining about not feeling well and they sent her to the hospital.

It is too bad that she didn't heed their advice of going to the hospital right away, it probably would have made all the difference.

This is such a bizarre accident though. I am a skier and a fall on the bunny hill is usually nothing. I mean most bunny hills have such mild slopes that you don't build up any speed and sometimes you have to really pole just to keep moving. Of course I have never been to Mount Tremblant, but still a bunny hill is a bunny hill.

Apparently, the first ambulance turned around and went back so the fact one was called would make it seem the fall was more serious than it appears to have been.

i think calling an ambulance is par for the course when someone blacks out. she woke up, told them she was fine and that she didn't need one, so they sent it back. people should not be allowed to judge the severity of their own head injury. internal bleeding may take some time to start causing damage, but when it does it need immediate attention. poor woman. rip.

i'm guessing only because she is a hollywood star that an ambulence was called and they spent all that time with her. anyone else they wouldve just patted them on the back and moved on.

if she hurt herself that badly on the bunny slope, she probably fell backwards and landed on the back of her head. that seems the only real way to hurt your head so severly.

Update: The cause of death was epidural hematoma (bleeding between the skull and the brain’s covering).
