Check out the Masters of Horror series
No Roi (Japanese film, you can find on youtube I believe)
The Orphanage
The Devil's Backbone

Those are the one's I suggest (even though they're all recent). I could suggest a few more from that time period, just let me know what type of horror you enjoy.
Yea I also thought that Rec is awesome, haven't seen No Roi will check it out thanks

YOu have got to be kidding me. NO one saw that coming.

In hindsight, yes you can see the signs. BUt that fact you seen it coming. UNless someone told you something about it. Otherwise, I call BULLSHIT.

Its a great movie I agree, and no nobody told me anything. Obviously I didn't know all of the little things, but I knew who the killer was all along.

I never know where to start with these things. The other day I came a cross a Roger Ebert blog that referred to the British Film Institute's top ten survey of critics and directors. They do it every ten years, and they are compiling the lists for the 2012 version now. You can see the top tens by decade, up to 2002. But the all-encompassing list, that takes care of all my choices, shows every film that ever received a vote. Find it here -

I was too quick in saying all my choices would be in that list. There are two that pop out right away - Eraserhead, and Shogun Assassin.
