Agreed. The question was definitely not warranted given the laid back nature of the interview. When I first watched this, I had to rewind it because I couldn't believe why he thought asking such a question would be a good idea.

Iron Mike's response is hilarious and on point.

Especially given who he was asking. Just stupid!

Normally he's a little crazy, but I honestly done blame him here. What made that idiot interviewer think that was a good question to ask?

Because it was brought up several times in the Toronto media. I'm guess he got the idea from that. In fact the words "convicted rapist" was brought up several times on CityTv.

Pretty much, yeah.

The thing is, Mike was handling it amazing well up until 1:21. If Mike had just stopped there, he would have made the interviewer look like a complete jerk in the eyes of almost everybody, except for maybe the most hardcore of feminists who don't believe in giving men second chances. Now, I'm not sure how many people would be as sympathetic as a group of dudes who regularly accept indviduals as flawed and enjoy a good comeback story, like us in this thread.

Personally, I'm just glad Mike didn't fuck himself over by decking that guy. When you come from the kind of background Mike has gone through, from tough childhood, to prison, to having the opportunity to eventually hit the competition when they shit talk you before a fight, it must suck to have some 'lil bitch try to publicly humiliate you and yet not be able to hold him accountable in the ways you're used to. Mike probably held himself back as best he could, I guess.

And before people say "but Mike IS a convicted rapist"....don't you think he addressed these types of questions after he first got out and re-entered the spotlight? Like, at some point, you have to give a dude a chance to move on with his life. Is he going to be answering this shit when he is 80?

He just couldn't let it slide, the comment/question really came out of nowhere, it would be different if he was being interviewed by Barbara Walters.

i was a little bit worried by this.

tyson has changed so much in the last few years, let his true self come out. you can tell in the past, looking back, that all that aggressive stuff he used to do was out of fear. The "i'll fuck you till you love me" tirade, the swearing on tv interviews, look closely at his face and body posture, he's scared. Same when he bit holyfield's ear, that was also frustration as well as fear.

i love mike, such an interesting, complex character, and definitely a good guy deep down imo. But this looked like a return to his old fear response, the face gave it away for me, once he started swearing. I hope he's ok psychologically...
