the cost alone is what gets me, and the lack of freedom is the other thing.
you can pretty much do anything with a PC and everything is made for the PC. MAC is too streamlined, and too Apple specific.
i can get a crazy PC rig - pumped with all the bells and whistles - and it'll still be hundreds of dollars less than a basic MAC.
for me it's about maintenance. i put zero effort into maintaining my mac, protecting it, installing programs, etc. it's just so easy. i'd rather spend my free time not working on my computer.

THIS is why my next comp will likely be a Mac.

I've had this conversation with some of the boys on EBS and the opinions are pretty much the same....

If you know your shit with computers, go PC. It's cheaper and you get "more bang for your buck".

If you're a fairly casual user (or are into digital imaging stuff) then it's Mac that's best.

I'd still argue that if you get the right mac for what you want to do, you'll get more bang for your buck. But yeah - if you want to make your knowledge of computers be something that matters, then a PC will be the way to go.

You get a lot of extras with a mac in terms of excellent software. It's hard to say that a lower end mac is so much more expensive all things considered.
