how to deal with bad days w/o alcohol and such

you have those days, where it seems nothing goes your way. you feel down, worse than a fucking shithole. how the fuck do you get out of it, when you're not 19?

Beans 02-02-2012 01:46 AM

Exercise?

BryanColangelo 02-02-2012 01:56 AM

you're way too young to be resorting to alcohol as an 'escape.' Seriously, drink at a party, get shit-faced with your friends, but don't drink because you're feeling down. That's just never works out. If things aren't going your way all i can say is lots of people have been there at your age. trust me. Whatever the reason for your bad mood is, it will pass. things will turnaround. They always do.

+1 to excercise.

LX 02-02-2012 07:46 AM

Yep - take a long walk at a good pace. And if you feel really stuck in a shit hole for a good length of time, tell your doctor or someone who can help dig you out.

Windex 02-02-2012 07:57 AM

I walk

INSIDER 02-02-2012 08:33 AM

If you have a bad day and you think you need alcohol to feel better, you are a fool. And I say this with no disrespect. But you are.
You are too young to be worrying about every little thing and feeling crap about some meaningless girl or grade or friend. This is a big world.. There's so much our there. Go to the gym, watch a movie, do whatever you want.

jeffb 02-02-2012 10:48 AM

1-Order yourself a pizza
2-watch a movie
3-cry yourself to sleep. lol

Seriously though, we can all relate. Do something to take your mind off things for a night, hang out with friends, excercise is a good one. Maybe just talking to someone you know can relate. (friend)

Alcohol won't solve anything. And will only make things worse.

Oh, and just to let you know, your life is only now begining. Real life that is, and you'll have days like this along the way. Learn to cope with it better and try to develop a thicker skin. Otherwise you'll end up living with your parents until you're 40. lol

Choose to be happy.

Crazy thought I know, but easier then you think.

Snooch 02-02-2012 11:13 AM

Rule #1 in not becoming an alcholic. NEVER drink alone. If its a quick beer after a hard days work or a grueling exercise that different.

Anyways I always have a shot of Grappa when I'm sick or down. Just one and I'll go walk the dog or something after to recollect my thoughts. That reminds me I'm all out :))

dfunkie1 02-02-2012 11:36 AM

go to a gym that has a punching bag and let it out

drinking is filled with regret.

days that end in "y"

Raptorman 02-02-2012 12:16 PM

Sorry if this is "preachy".

I always thought of booze as an "amplifier".

If you are down, booze will get you really down.

If you are happy, booze brings on the party!

If you are horny, well...you know.

I have always been weary of depressed people that drink and are suddenly changed.

Superjudge 02-02-2012 02:39 PM

pzabby.

The best way to combat a terrible day is to stay busy.
There are any of a million things you can do that we never think of. What you will find often is that doing something nice for another person when you yourself are feeling terrible has amazing affects upon your frame of mind, the catch is that good deeds and kind behavior will lead to the same in return.

Sounds like BS, but it isn't. Some of the most successful people in the world use tactics like this to stay positive, and to keep happiness and positivity in their lives.

Windex 02-02-2012 02:58 PM

and emotions are for women
I got rid of my emotions and now live like a robot
haven't had a sad day in years :cookie:

Very solid piece of advice. And I don't give gratuitous compliments, so it's a solid endorsement

There is a tiny problem though, pzabby, if you're the user I think are (I might have you confused with another teen). Do your parents prevent you from doing extra volunteer work, because they want you to focus on your grades in school? Or was that some other teen. If that's you, that's unfortunate.

If you can, go out and volunteer in stuff.
1-it can fufill the objective SJ mention
2-you can meet more people

From some of your other posts, I get the impression you'd maybe benefit from brancing out and meeting some more people.

Masturbating and eating food is great for making yourself feel better; I've done it a milliion times, at least. But, it works as a quick fix for temporary problems.

if you feel like shit often, you need a bigger change. Makes some good friends. Really good ones. It helps. Also, I agree with Insider's suggestion about hiting the gym. I used to work-off a lot of stress that way. It makes your body feel great. Nothing like a nap after a workout. Now I'm falling apart and all I do is jog.

alcohol is a depressant, as is pot and hash, so yeah.

and if your happy booze will bring the party, until towards the end of the night or possibly the next morning when the depression will inevitably kick in.

th3answ3r 02-02-2012 03:55 PM

cry yourself to sleep.

just do something that you are passionate about like a sport or watch some movies.
go swimming
listen to music
hang with some broads
there's no need to drink when there's so much to cheer you up
