read over the posts cuz i was bored. to be honest, i had high hopes going into the tryout but it didnt work out. its been months but it think about it everyday what could've been if i had been playing ball there. i felt that i had worked harder than everybody that summer but i guess it wasn't enough because the players were seasoned and played ball for much longer than me because i really only started ball in 2010. im always down when i hear about the team and stuff but can't really do much about that. i practice very frequently and working hard to prove myself next year. wanted to thank you everybody and i can definitely say im a hella lot better mentally and emotionally than before. You all took the time to put in the time to educate me about the game and i really appreciate that. posts definately help more reading them a second time

You're right, there's always next season.

Since you are just starting out, you can only get better.

does shooting on a 8-9 ft net ruin your shooting form? its a different shot since the net is lower. idk if it will help make a better jumpshooter when i play on a 10ft net. i have a 9ft one beside my school and i can spend my lunch there.

What are you considering downtown? Dufferin/Bloor has a couple good half courts. Its not reliable pick up, but lots of eye candy walking by.

My defender doesn't go for fakes. So I drive hard either side but he always stays on me and I usually get blocked on the layup attempt. So all game I just shot j's over him because he sags off but I want to know how I can get a layup on him to practice my finishing moves.

Where do you usually get your points from? (i.e are you a shooter or a post guy or a driver)

Just try and get some easy baskets to get you going. Never start a game shooting outside shots. It wrecks your feel for the game if you start 0 for 4 from the field after jacking some J's.
