Default Help Sport Injury

Hey guys ever since last week i have been feeling pains in my knee.
The pain get worse after a game with my high school basketball team, there seems to be a slight swollen under my knee cap near my shin. Its very sensitive to touch and i feel a huge pain when i try to bend my knee's. I currently forced my self to play 2 games as a starter but now its at a point where i don't think i can even run up the court, my teams mates think i am trying to chicken out of the season. I went to my school trainer and he said i have something called Osgood Schlatters and its not a bad disease. But can any of you confirm this? I don't wanna do anything i will regret in the future.
Thankx

Might be patellar tendonitis, which is something that I've had before. Is it the area surrounding your knee that is swollen, or just at the back of your knee?

In any case, go see your doctor mate!

yea dude, are you a teen? i had Osgood Schlatters when i was growing. this happened to me throughout pretty much all of highschool, and i know EXACTLY what you're talking about. after doing anything physical, the tibia or pointy part of your knee under your knee cap hurts alot when you use it or touch it right?

i had it diagnosed and sadly its something you have to grow out of. if you are inclined to play sports (especially ball) to ease up the pain you're gonna have to get use to using an ice pack on your leg. don't take this offensive but are you heavy? i found losing weight helped alot, makes sense cause less pressure on your knees right. til then, out of experience, its just something you will grow out of.

I've heard of this before.

They'll probably have to amputate.

Two suggestions:

1. Calling a doctor

2. Staying in school and working real hard

As far as knees go, I've had it all dude. I had O-S when I was a teen (really swollen, after games had to ice just to be able to walk), PFS in university when my kneecap shifted (tons of physio) and who knows what the hell is wrong with it now, because my damn doctor's office lost my MRI reading last week. Nice.

Don't screw around listening to your teammates. Stay out of the lineup until you get it checked out and treated. Playing will do nothing but make it worse. You can miss a few weeks and get better or play and then end up missing a season. Your choice.

I'm going through the same thing right now. I went to a doctor, he said it's swollen beneath the kneecap, and not to play ball for two weeks, because this when people play on a swollen knee like this, they end up tearing their ligaments or whatever because the knee is weak. I went back after two weeks, still the same thing. He said don't play until it's better.

But my swelling didn't go away after not playing for another week, so I've been playing on it now for 3months or so. Has yet to get better, but it has not gotten worse either.
