Default Heel pain

Hey hoping someone can tell me something about this...

My heel kills. It hurts to walk on (I can run just fine because I don't really touch my heel).

I tried looking it up on the internet but all it turned up really was plantar fasciitis. I've NEVER had any problems before and it started very suddenly when I was walking home from the bar saturday night.

It didn't start and get worse it just showed up.

Any thoughts?

Do you run a lot? Don't want to sound too ominous, but it could be a stress fracture. What kind of shoe do you wear? If it's worn out or weak around the back of the shoe it's a definite possibility.

I assume you were wearing dress shoes with an elevated heel on your way back from the bar. That puts some extra stress on your heel, so that could have put your heel over the top.

(sorry just realized I hurt it Friday night)

Yeah I run a lot... Although Friday I didn't really do any running. I use those crazy vibram shoes a lot, I went running yesterday in my new balances because I was worried about my heel.

I did some heavy lifting on friday during the day but most of it was back related (I did deadlifts so that could have put some pressure there?)

I do run quite a lot but the last time I ran before the injury was Monday night!

Does this alter your opinion at all?

I am wearing dress shoes and it kills in these fuckers haha

I use to wear crappy shoes all the time and my feat would kill the next day.

Now that I am smart about my footwear, the problem has stopped.

Well it's possible that running may have been the irritant and the combination of deadlifts / dress shoes may have been the nail in the coffin.

I'm the furthest thing from a doctor, I'm actually a business student, so take it with a grain of salt and don't worry yourself over it for the time being. I'm just speaking based off of the little experience I have. Whatever it is though, I can guarantee that laying off the running / lifting for a little bit and icing a couple times a day will do wonders.

If you run alot it's likely plantar fascitis (or however you spell it). I dealt with it all last year, it came out of nowhere. It wouldn't hurt when I ran (after about 2K or so) but I couldn't walk anywhere. The best way to tell is check your heel. If it's slightly inflammed then it's likely it.

the first thing i thought about was plantar fasciitis as well.

It's probably best to go to your dr. if you want to know for sure.

Doctors are inconvenient though......I mean it LOOKS the same as the other one...So I don't think it is inflamed... It's also hard to look at your own heel.

Especially when you are in the office taking your shoes and socks off hahaha

Claduius what was the solution for you?

Get rid of those crappy foot shoes you have and get a real pair of shoes.

Don't self-diagnose yourself. Next, you'll think its a terminal condition. Get yourself checked out at a clinic.

Feel around your heel. The way I knew it, was I'd run my hand by my heel and I noticed a slight bump and when pressed it would be the pain.

My solution? Well, I'm stubborn so I ran for the rest of the summer and early fall and then stopped doing really anything in November and rested for about 3 months (i.e. no running). I'm fine now.

Well I am starting to think it could be plantar facitis...grr because I have the one spot that is painful.

I might just see my physio....

I'll just go on the bike in the meantime...I found some lame-o exercises online i can probably do too.....

dude... that's because you're not a doctor.

there's the principle difference between you looking at it as oppose to an MD.

LOL.

I know, but he said to look and see if it was inflammed....I wasn't making a claim as to what it was or wasn't....just saying it wasn't inflammed.

I had this same sort of thing happen to me, and I got some gel heel inserts, which really helped out. If you want more info, I suggest this site: Heel Pain - Information About Causes of Heel Pain
