Seeing how me the gf are in the market for a new t.v. for the new home, I suggest picking up a Sharp Aquos, obviously with 1080p capabilities. Honestly, they're the best on the market imo and we have a 32 inch one now. I compare it to my friends who have Samsungs and Sony's and they pale in comparison.

Yeah, my friend bought a 52" version and can't get enough of it. We're looking at something about 40 to 43". Do you mind me asking what you guys paid for your 32" CG?

we paid 1200 last year. We're looking at buying a 52" this time around.

And snooch, plasma is not the way to go. Even though the colour black shows up better, its a giganitic waste of money if you don't need it.

If your buying size, plasma is cheaper than LCD.

Mine is in my basement in a dark room, looks great.
50 inch Panasonic 1080 for under $2000.

For a 1080 LCD (at least when I purchased last Christmas) was pusing $2800

Depending on where you're buying. My buddy has a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma for 2999. A 52 LCD for Sharp is 1999.

But if you have in a basement it does look better, the colours look better. But the negative is, regardless of what they say, plasmas still have a shorter life span.

plasma has an estimated life of 60,000 hours, Sharp LCD boasts an estimated life of 60,000hrs as well.

We just renovated our basement and now we are thinking of buing a new LCD TV for the basement. We will probably buy ours during boxing day, but I sure hope the TV looks better in the basement. Especially at night with the all the colours

Then that's news to me. Talking to my friend now he said, if you spend the money on a higher end plasma then you'll get that comparable lifespan. But the regular plasma (1400-2500 in price, e.g. and LG) will end up giving you 40-45000 hours; a Sharp will give you 60 000 at minimum and a maximum of 70 000 to 74 000.

What happens when that amount of hours are done/over? Does the TV stop working, or what?

Thats true, actually was going to buy an LG cause it was like 900 bucks cheaper, but while I was i the store getting paper work done a picking out wires it crapped out, so I bought the Panny instead.

I spent like 6 months, literally, every day at work researching these bastards before dropping a couple grand. Absolutly had to make sure I was making the right decision

I came to the conclusion that if you have a lightfilled room, or want to play alot of video games and use as a computer monitor, go with LCD

If you have a darker room and only use tv for movies and Raptors ball, go plasma(although I do play a little Xbox on mine)

I agree 100% with this. They by far look the best and are priced great.

I heard they started making the new ones on the cheap though and have had some reliabilty problems as of late.
