We bought a 37 inch LG30 and it's really quite nice. We started with a 40 inch Samsung and the LCD smear was unbearable (and the TV was too big for the room). If it was an option, I'd have elected to buy a plasma because they have no smear, but the smallest size is 40. The HD looks incredible on most channels but Cogeco compresses some channels and you can notice signal degradation during fast moving action like Raptors games and that kinda pisses me off.

Yeah. The picture is amazing except when highlights are shown though. But i don't think it has anything with the format or ratio, i'm guessing it has to do with what was said earlier.

i gots a kickass 27" tube TV. reprazent.

(it's actually a flat / wide-screen model. it's good enough for me).
and here's a question... why is it that regular channels (non-HD ones) look better on my TV than the same channels on a big LCD TV's that i have seen? I always find that regular nonHD stuff looks all-pixelated on more modern televisions.

Unless I am mistaken, it has to do with the actual size and pixel count.

The signal is the same but because you TV has a smaller siza and fewer pixels, then the picture appears clearer.

Then again, the people whose TV has a picture not as clear as yours really needs to check out their settings, most of the newer TV have a feature that 'steps up" the signal quality so that doesnt happen.

CRTs are still capable of delivering the best black level, contrast, shadow detail and color performance of any video technology out there. The new fixed-pixel technologies have a lot to offer in terms of larger scale images, or hang-it-on-the-wall convenience, but they do not outperform HDTV tube televisions in pure image quality.

The funniest part is the prices, like any new technology, it has really gone down the last few years.

2006- I bought a shitty BenQ 27' LCD. Price= $1999.00

2008- I bought a 42' Panasonic Plasma Price= $1059.00

Mind you the LCD still works, i put it in the bedroom. Maybe not so shitty.lol

CG is bang on IMO.

I have a Sony Wega that has served my well but my next one will be an Aquos for sure.

GREAT TVs.

It was between the LG and the Aquos (and a Bravia) for us and I liked the LG better, if you can believe it, and I spent a lotttt of time in that store comparing the two. The Bravia was just awful.

I was talking to my buddy about the Aquos just yesterday.

He told me that when they moved the manufacturing from Japan to Malaysia that the quality of the product took a drastic turn for the worse.

I work part-time at Futureshop and I think you should go with a Samsung LCD considering the new models just came out. Or you can go with the Samsung 750 series which is getting cheaper by the day since the release of the new models. If you want plasma go with Panasonic and don't go with Samsung. You can get a 50" Panny PZ85 for under 2k.

I have a 19" Benq LCD monitor and it has lasted me for about 7-8 years now. We payed $600 for it. However, they stopped selling Benq in North America because you can't sell Benq here with warranty because repair and manufacturing is some place in the middle east.

ive got a 42 " sharp aquos and a 40" sony bravia.
the sharp is so much better its not even funny.
if you're in the market for a tv, always go bigger than you think you want because you'll always regret not buying the bigger one afterwards.

Please find me another instance where I have said that.

And when you say "I just bought this" you make it sound as though you yourself just bought it.
