Default Gunman at Batman premiere in Denver

Quote:
A masked gunman shot dead 15 people and wounded 50 others at a suburban US cinema during the screening of the latest Batman movie.

The 6ft tall man, dressed in black and wearing a gas mask opened fire at the showing of The Dark Knight Rises in a mall in Aurora, Colorado and set off a smoke or tear gas bomb.

Witnesses said that the man, thought to be in his early twenties, burst through the emergency exit at the front of the auditorium, wearing body armour, and began firing into the audience with a rifle and two handguns as he made his way up the stairs, picking his victims at random.

Just a terrible tragedy, mentioned he shot a 3 month old child in the back. It also made me wonder:
- Questions over why young children and babies were at late-night screening

I saw on the news that one of the dead was at the Eaton Center when that place got shot up. That's terrible- to escape one tragedy and to succumb to another one mere weeks later.

This may sound cold(and trust me when i say i don't mean it to come across that way) but it's almost as if her ticket was up and the powers that be missed her the first time but got her the second time

I mean seriously, the odds of this happening have to be astronomical !!

Sad, sad story

why, all they do is sleep. wtf. Is this what people get from this incident, a way to somehow blame a parent for bringing a baby to a movie for it being shot by a fucking lunatic?

Awesome mentality, no wonder I wanna move to the fucking arctic...people are too stupid for me.

It's one thing i get from this incident yes. Sorry, but no baby should be in a loud movie theatre until 2am. It's selfish parents that would do that imo. Lunacy!

Obviously it's the least of what there is to take away from this mess but it was brought up so i commented......the end.

the only thing that i see wrong with bringing a baby to a movie is the fact that the baby could wake up and start crying. movies tend to be loud and could startle the baby and that would disturb everyone elses experience. ... RIP to all those that lost their lives people are crazy, this is very very sad.

There needs to be a serious discussion regarding guns and violence in our culture (Canada and the US).

Our immediate response is to jump to legislation, but legislation is useless without education. Legislation is useless when the culture we live in is fucked. Legislation is useless when we're taught, at a very young age, of 'getting yours'.

We've accepted certain levels of violence in our lives and draw lines at certain points and then act shocked when the line is crossed.

It's a tragedy that lives are lost, but it's a real tragedy that very little, meaningful discussion will arise out of this.
