why is it then even though i don't need any new guitars, don't have space for new guitars, don't even really have a budget for new guitars i still go through kijiji ads? Hell i started typing in one about whether or not the seller still had it available until i came to my senses and closed the browser.

It's a sickness.

It's called GAS, man. (gear acquisition syndrome)

This is why I own 4 SG's, 2 Tele's, a Les Paul, a strat, a Rickenbacker, 2 basses, 3 bass amps, 4 guitar amps and 3 acoustic guitars.

And don't even get me started on effects pedals...

shit at least you're in a band. I just serenade the family.

I actually caved and emailed the seller in the end. Got a reply that it was already sold which is probably a good thing.

Yeah, well I only use the same two SG's for every gig and my Fender Jazz for gigs where I play bass and that's pretty much it.

There's nothing wrong with collecting gear, man. As long as the wiff understands. Mine is cool with it or at least says she is.

a change to the family over the last few days. Out is the affinity telecaster and in is an epiphone SG-400 deluxe:

not my photo, but an exact lookalike to mine:

I had a bad case of the GAS like you said Acie. Been looking at Les pauls and then came across real bargain for this SG. i was pretty easily won over by the quality, sound and overall feel of the guitar.

thats a beautiful SG. My gas sindrome ended the day I started leaving by myself. The last thing i bought was 3 years ago more or less. A set of turntables and a mixingtable.

i put on a bigsby on my SG. Did it with a part called a vibramate which appealed to me as i didn't have to do any drilling and do anything to the body of the guitar.

I'm pleased with the results. Tuning has been pretty good for the most part and it's fun to throw in a little trem with the guitar now. Not so bad on the eyes either IMO.

so i finally hooked myself up into garageband yesterday. It was fun to play around with all the different amps and effects in that program. I was able to record a couple real rough demos of some stuff that i've been messing around with. looking forward to building on it.

I'm sure you have a pretty advanced and or high quality recording set up trane... i just used a patch chord with a usb output that i picked up for a couple bucks. It sounded pretty good when i played. A lot of hum/noise when i wasn't playing though.

anyone else use garageband?

I have protools, but I mostly use garage band because it is less of a pain in the ass. I use and mbox2 pro and just run it into whichever program I want to use. But I always record (guitar) through an amp and mic it, and then pick up the mic via the mbox. I never go direct in unless vocals or sometimes bass. I love creating tones and don't want the computer fucking with my sound in that way.

This is my newest addition. I spent about a year looking for my new 'forever' acoustic. As soon as I played this one that was it. Didn't really have the money but pulled the trigger anyway.

Edit: Just realized I don't know how to insert a picture...

i can see myself spending hours and hours messing around with this stuff. It's funny but when i was younger i once borrowed a friend's multi-track tape recording thingy. The end result sounded so shitty. and now i have all these resources and tools in my laptop computer and even with my super basic set up (one chord) it actually sounds pretty good.

and congrats on the guitar gday!

hey dudes so for the last month or so i have been trying my hand at the bass. I picked up a second hand Squier Vintage modified Precision Bass. Wasn't really sure how the transition from guitar to bass would be, but it's been really fun. i've pretty much only been playing the bass the last few weeks and i'm getting alright. For now mostly learning basslines to songs i like with decent success. finger picking is coming along, but i feel way more comfortable playing with a pick. Yesterday me and some friends had a jam night and me and the drummer were definitely working well so i must be on the right path.

I'm giving it a bit of a makeover. I recently got a bridge and pickup cover to give it the vintage look. Waiting on a new tortoise shell pickguard which should arrive shortly.

here's some pics:

Looks sweet Fancy. Im more a jazz bass guy and I owned a Squier Modified Jazz bass. Best instrument Ive seen quality-price (250 dollars or so) and Im sure yours is similar. Extremely heavy though. Was stolen sadly. Fuckers.

So sexy!

Bass is fun. Nice P-bass.

My buddy has the same Squier. It's sweet.

I'm a jazzman too.
