Hey Acie, you know a thing or two about acoustic guitars? I'm buying one off of my buddy, it's a Takamine F 360-S...Are you familiar with this model?

10gizzle, I don't know too much about it, I'd maybe check out some of the reviews on Harmony Central.

Takamine F-360s: Harmony Central User Reviews

The Little Dipper kicks the shit of the Q-Tron I own and it will actually fit on my board.

i only use 2 effects - wah and envelope. the rest is just pure mesa and gibson. i've never been a real gear head when it comes to pedals - just amps and guitars - so i don't really have a board to worry about. occasionally i'll use a tremolo as well, but not often.

I always thought that if I ever became a guitar player I would have a very minimal set up, but then I switched from bass I realised that I like to get pretty spacey, so I have a wah, octave pedal, phaser and a delay. My VOX also doesn't have an overdrive built into it, so for a nice crunchy tone I have to crank it which isn't always an option in smaller venues, so I have an OD and a couple of fuzz pedals for leads and when I manipulate feedback. I've always thought that multi-effect units regardless of how convenient they are were for the most part really bad sounding, so unfortunately I have a fair sized board.

I have a couple of your pedals.

I use these!

With this...

Because this beautiful thing...

...was lent to a friend when I was an apartment dweller in exchange for a bass guitar. I wouldn't mind it back now, but, y'know.

this guy fucking rules. he's a hollywood session guitarist named phil x (from canada originally) that is apparently employed by this l.a. guitar shop to make little vids of himself testing out vintage guitars (what an awesome job). he absolutely destroys some of these guitars. there are probably over a hundred youtube videos of this guy. i spent all of last evening watching them, first because the axes are incredible and second because he's just fun to watch. he knows every classic rock riff and solo there is and looks like he's rocked on coke the whole time. i bet this dude would be a lot of fun to hang with. he's pretty hollywood, with black fingernails and all teh rest of it, but he's got major balls to step up in front of a camera and just play and sing a bunch of tunes off the cuff like this.

anyways, for any of the gear heads out there, you need to wtach a lot of this guy's videos. they're fantastic.

mostly he plays the guitars through a vintage vox for clean tones and a 15 watt tonemaster for the distorted dirty stuff. the tonemaster sounds incredible.

enjoy!

He does, although he did play Purple Haze wrong.

During the verse he played barre chords, but Jimi used to use wrap his thumb over to play the root note on the low E and not play the 5th on the A string.

I keed....

I need a new tuner...my TU-2 is dying a slow death.

I think I'm going to try the Korg Pitch Black. It's more accurate than the TU-2 and and as far as I know the display is easier to see at outdoor gigs when it's bright out.

Are you getting the big one or the small one.The big one 150 $. Thats quite a lot for a tuner. Looks good though.

I'm going to get the smaller one. I don't have room on my board for a pedal with that big of a foot print, nor do I have use for presetting alternate tunings.

And fancy, when I don't have a tuner, I tune to the dial tone on the phone. It's an A in 440 (standard tuning).
