.9's LMAO, ahhhh, I was so damn bored I just found this thread, sweeeet. As for myself I am a gibson head, Les Paul's baby, owned a few schecters but I like my les paul's. Gonna get my own sig model one day soon. .10-.46 all the way ladies... if you're a gibson head
can't switch string sizes for jokes, gotta make sure they fit your nut so that you stay in tune easier... I only know that because gibson is lousy at setting up their nuts in the manufacturing process after a couple of years of frustration. |

Does anybody here know a thing or two about Peavy amps?
I'm looking to buy the Vyper 60 watt tube and have just been checking around to see reviews and get some feedback. The thing sounded great and was very reasonably priced....Any input would be quite appreciated... |

i have no knowledge of the vyper 60.
but... i always hated peavey, but that's just me. i found them to be very trebly and shredder-like. just not warm at all. i am in love with mesa boogie. acie - that shot is freaking magical. awesome. |

You know 'trane, I got that impression from the solid state Peavy's too. But this one had a warm and full sound...I'm guessing because it was a tube amp...What's the exact deal with em' anyways? How is it that they sound so great?

most of the warmness with tubes comes from the fact that the amps were simpler and had fewer parts. this meant less chance for 'impurification' of the sound. also, tube amps distort naturally by driving the tubes, so you get an old school warm distortion sound as opposed to transistor amps that just try to re-produce it with effects.
acie probably has a good take on this too. fwiw i would never buy a non-tube amp. they just don't sound as good. |

Looking to acquire a new axe. I currently play a 90's re-issue thin line tele with two p90 Seymore Duncan pick ups and I'm playing through a Fender Blues Deluxe Amp.
I'm strongly considering a Gibson SG. Someday when I win the lottery I'll pick up a Languedoc. Any other suggestions? |

I guess it all depends on what sort of sound you're looking for.
I just checked out some videos on youtube. It sounds good for modern stuff. I always though the Peavey Classic 30's were nice amps. They're in the same price range. |

I'm a huge proponent of SG's (I own two and they are my main axes). I love the sound of the stock bridge pick up and I love the feel of the neck. Your tele sounds pretty sweet. |

Thanks for the website 'Trane.
I've played quite a few guitars (in stores) over the past couple of years and I keep going back to the SG. I love the feel not to mention the sound. SG's are nice and versatile and I think would be a good compliment to my tele. I was looking pretty seriously at an American Strat. They just play so well. The only problem is my hands are fairly small and I found the fat neck difficult to adjust to after playing my tele. |

As I've said before, a lot of it has to do with how you play and how you fiddle around with your tone which would compel me to stay away from modeling amps with built in effects as you wind up being a slave to their sound. Nothing beats going to some tiny, little vintage music store and trying things out and finding the best amp (and guitar) for how you play.
